@justalexoki They dont ruin our clothes + we do air dry just not with outdoor clothes lines unless youre in a rural area in my experience.

Eye-opening moment for me was meeting a Canadian during a conference in Europe who asked us, star-struck, what was "that amazing blue-winged bird" he saw in a park earlier. We struggled, eventually realising it was a magpie. Being too used to seeing it, we forgot how cool it was

@serraotweets @constans Tampa has some aeronautical industry, a bit similar to Cape Canaveral. Up north theres some mining and logging still. There's agriculture all over. But yeah there isnt much industry - tends to be mostly real estate (the devil) for retirees+tourism in most of the state.

Huge construction and tourism industries. Health care facilities everywhere. LATAM offices in Miami. JAX and Pensacola are military towns. Tallahassee is gov / uni.
Tampa is the town I don’t know much about - probably the most invisible metro area in the US and it’s pushing 5 million now.

Florida and Texas are often lumped together but I think the overall economic model driving their respective booms has long been quite different, and Florida’s is noticeably shakier imo

They would have one training day of how to use the software, and the rest of school was pen and paper. You dont need constant screen time to learn a very basic exam software this is ridiculous.

Horvath lives in Australia and likely hasn’t seen the actual digital tests. I spent last 3 weeks doing lessons and practice time for math grades 3-5 — they need to know which icon to select to use the protractor and ruler and take measurements for instance. How to use the module to write an equation and fractions where required. States are going to (or are already on) all digital for spring tests, on school devices; NAEP trialed this this go around too.
There just isn’t going to be a way to get around some usage and it’s more important than ever we have state exams and NAEP

@rightwingnutrs I'm uncertain of this. I had better cider, wine, beer in Europe but all the liquor tasted watered down. I suppose our history of prohibition may have affected the US in this regard.

I'd take these Europoors more seriously if they acknowledged their problems and then pointed out stuff that is actually better. I'm perfectly willing to admit Europe has better alcohol in general.
