@robertoblake This isn’t unpopular, this would be amazing. Even better would be if YouTube shows you what topics it thinks you create so you can correct it and control which subscribers it shows it to first.

Unpopular opinion:
YouTube should give Creators the ability to delete/purge subscribers who have not interacted with their content in over 6-12 months.
(Also we should see the churn data on these subscribers not just unique viewers just like with an email list)
The reason we should be able to purge subscribers is because when we upload a video it’s initially sent to a random group of our subscribers to initially determine response and performance and this can determine IMPRESSIONS and the cap for them on a video…
This is also why it may feel like you’re “punished” for experimenting…
And why many of us tell you to niche down or to have multiple channels for multiple interests…

@YouTubeLiaison Of the top 20 videos on my home feed, two are creators I have subscribed to.
For me, fixing that is the best way to support creators, combat this over obsession with CTR and focus on subscriber creator relationship.
My home feed looks like the facebook ad sidebar circa 2012.

FUN FACT: YouTube actively promotes videos from smaller channels through it's Browse recommendations feed. For a few months now, YouTube has been trying to help smaller channels get more views. You may have already seen this through videos in your browse feed that have only been there for (often less than) one day and haven't gotten more than 1,000 views. This is because YouTube promotes those videos through its fifth or sixth recommendation slots in your browse feed. Also, the fact that they always have low view counts shows that YouTube is working hard to get smaller channels' videos seen. This could also be because of work that indirectly helps a smaller channel, like trying out showing people new uploads (novelty-based recommendations). I’ll include some visual examples in this post, but you should refresh your own Browse feeds to see this in action. The amount of work that is being put into this is really impressive. It's definitely an effort than I can stand behind, even if it sometimes results in lower-quality recommendations.

While I think you are absolutely right and it’s solid advice for someone starting.
I don’t believe that the next biggest YouTuber will follow this route.

I've been at this for a very long time, and I've worked with HUNDREDS of Creators at this point.
It's more than fine if you don't feel comfortable with paying for coaching... it's not okay to ask me to give you my time for FREE to your benefit...
This is my reply to such a request for future reference:
"If you’re uncomfortable with my fees, I would refer you to my free content as I don’t give my time away for free.
What other people failed to deliver for you has nothing to do with my availability, nor is it fair to the clients who paid for my time.
I have over 40 Trust Pilot reviews that are publicly verified creators.
You’ve seen my work and the creators in my network.
If that’s not sufficient to make you comfortable then I’m simply not a good fit for you and that’s perfectly okay.

@robertoblake My channel would often get those views up to a 500k - 1m in some videos over time , since I narrowed the topic and essentially pivoted (in the eyes of YouTube) I have some weird stuff going on and crazy low views.
So getting 60k should be pretty easy if they really know.

@robertoblake Put simply if a creator charges me literally the equivalent of a year’s school dinners for my kid for an hour of their time I want to know it will have an impact.

@robertoblake It’s a minefield though. I paid for coaching with some very prominent people that work with some of the best (now) and their advice was pretty underwhelming & of little use to me.
Obviously not a reflection on you but I think there needs to some absolutes before I pay up again.
