@NathanLands Congratulations, you feel how the rest of us have for years. I’m Canadian, and while our country is far from perfect, the dumpster fire that is the US is prominent for the rest of the world who is paying any sort of attention.

Of course, there are also good things about the USA, like the diversity of food, etc. And there is something a little exciting about the chaos. But I now feel way less interested in moving back to the USA. It feels like something is more deeply wrong than I realized.

I'M SHOCKED. After living in Japan for over two years, I recently visited the USA with my wife. It made me realize that the USA is dysfunctional in so many ways and has such a low-quality standard across the board. Here are the things I noticed:

Absolutely disgusted to see @GlobalBC news story on 95-year-old man evicted from S. Surrey’s Sunnyside Manor. He used up all his savings to pay rent. Now homeless. No one that age should ever be evicted - many other ways to deal with such situations. Shame, shame, shame.

I know it’s a fraught time. Yet, the Jewish community has always been strong and close. I hope that tonight, Jewish Canadians are together, sitting side-by-side around the dinner table, finding strength and hope in each other. That is the gift of community. May we end the year and its challenges, and begin the year with its blessings.
