The AU’s Continental Early Warning System (#CEWS) hosted a delegation from The Gambia’s #National Early Warning and Response Mechanism Coordinating Centre (#NCCRM) for a study visit. Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in early warning, analysis and mediation, while highlighting the role of #APSA and reinforcing coordination between national, regional and continental conflict prevention frameworks.

Many thanks to @ACCORD_online for publishing, under the title “Africa and the Sudan Tragedy—A Test of Responsibility And Leadership”, the shorter version of the piece that @djinnitsaid and I published last January. In it, we argue that, whatever others do or fail to do, Africa bears a responsibility that no external actor can discharge on its behalf, and we outline practical steps the @_AfricanUnion could take to help end the violence and lay the groundwork for a viable political process.
The longer version was published by @africa_amani under the title “Sudan’s Crisis Is Africa’s Crisis—And Its Responsibility.”
