BIGGEST BUBBLE BUST I do not know what pin, what event will pop the biggest bubbles in histor. What ever the event, the pin is near. It’s not IF. It’s WHEN. When the bubbles go bust I predict gold will hit $35,000 an ounce one year after the gold bubble goes pop.. I predict silver to hit $200 an ounce a year after the bust. I predict Bitcoin will hit $ 750,000 a coin a year after the crash. And i predict Ethereum to be $95000 a year after crash. What do you think prices will be a year after the next GFC? Time to get richer?

@0neBlazer I’ll check it out. I tried specifically for roofing, which to me seems like would be one of the easier take offs to perform, and it kept giving push back

@itsryanlarue Try using the prompt I added above. It was able to produce 3 different price ranges that felt right as a price per square foot for a job like that. I have to check how accurate the takeoffs are but it was very detailed.

Has anyone in construction biz try using Claude AI for estimating?? I uploaded plans for a 3100sf addition and asked it for a comprehensive estimate and I am truly impressed. It created custom excel spread sheets and customized word file ready to present to the client. Woah.

Metal suppliers only call you when the money stops. It’s actually funny. I stop buying from them for a while and suddenly they start checking in. Hey boss, everything good? Why did the orders stop? So I tell them the truth. We are buying direct from the manufacturer now. Silence. They did not expect that answer. And magically, within 60 seconds, they start offering prices I have never seen before. Same product and supplier. Just a different level of desperation. That is when you realize what the game is. Most suppliers are eating 30 to 50 % margin off you. And it is your job to take that margin back. Bypass the middleman put those profits on your table.

Man I wish it was that simple. What do you do when you have insurance money tied up for 6+ months, but labor and materials want to be paid now? How do you find, train, retain a canvassing team who will knock day in and day out without seeing a paycheck for 30-90 days? Or what about the actual roofing knowledge? Do you just rely on your subcontractors to get you to the finish line? Roofing always seems easy because the low barrier to entry. Retail, which I prefer, is whole other beast. Like Sam mentioned, many people get brutally humbled by assuming it’s easy. And waiting for a storm to pop up AND then jumping in, you’re already behind by the time you get rolling

So this is exactly my point! I am extremely confident that I could start a monster roofing co tomorrow by waiting for a strom, hiring a canvassing team to hit the effected area and getting a bunch of 1099 crews together. Then apparently I can sell that patchwork or connections for 6X?

The latest buzz in the PE ❤️ Home Services story has been around roofing. This one puzzles me greatly as I cant see anything about a roofing company that couldn't be replicated overnight at very little cost. As far as I know, there is very little stickiness to roofing customers, unlike pool service or pest control where regular service creates more of a relationship. So, I'm very unclear what it is the PE groups are buying...

How is it, that when you have a G MB profile and make almost any change to it, your account gets suspended. But when a scammer blasts you with 1 star reviews, magically they don’t automatically get removed. @Google I speak for all the SMB world, can you please makes these issues stop?

Consumer spending is down. Company/industry saturation is up. Newbies performing jobs at replacement wages comparable to their w2 income, causing pricing fluctuations for established businesses to compete. For marketing, meta ads and google ads have low conversions, but costs are very high compared to years past

My guess is that we’ve got 1-2 years left of home services being the “hot thing”. Take it from a seasonal business: new guys got rinsed this year. And early guys who tried to aggressively scale got smacked in the face. Paid marketing in home services ain’t what it used to be, man.

Just pulled up to my first pre-trial in Miami… Against the only customer who’s ever stiffed me. She never paid. But left me a 5-star Google review. Said she was “extremely happy with the project.” You can’t make this stuff up 🤡🤡🤡 I handled this entire case without a lawyer. Filed every motion, submitted every document and all with ChatGPT’s help. Did it myself because the debt wasn’t massive… but the lesson was worth it. 1 hour later inside the courtroom… I won the case by default. Now we move to judgment. I might collect from her car, her payroll, even her bank. This wasn’t about the money. It was about never letting disrespect slide.

@shawngorham Yep seeing it here in Phoenix. Friends are building medical offices and had me review the GC bids. Of the 8 bids the 2 lowest were the 2 largest GCs. Easily 15% less than the others.

I just job walked an $80,000 job and a company that does $60mm in revenue showed up to the same walk. I asked the rep, what the heck? He said "we are slow, we are taking anything right now" One of two things is going to happen - he will be 3x my price (due to his overhead) OR he will be half my price because he wants to keep guys moving and is "buying work" There is no in between

Is your roof 5k sqft? Or is the building 5k sqft? They will be two different numbers. That price isn’t bad for a sloped tpo or epdm system either way. No one likes paying for roof, so the price tag is usually a sticker shock because it’s hard to comprehend the intrinsic value. I run into this often, especially in commercial jobs. The building owners want to go to the unlicensed subs, but don’t realize the consequences of using them. I’m curious as to what you think the margins are in the two bids you received?

There must be crazy margins in commercial roofing I got 2 quotes: $73k and $80k to replace this roof in NJ 5,000 sq ft What do you think the materials cost? How hard would it be for me to find the subs who actually do the work?
