History is ruthless. In 2011, @mishra_surjya had to hold press conf on the streets as even the Press Corner was denied to the opposition. Today, seeing TMC protesting in the Assembly reminds one simple truth politics always comes full circle. What you do today, you face tmrw.

David Attenborough is so old that there’s a photograph of him already an adult while meeting King Charles III when Charles was still a child. The photograph was taken in 1958, when David Attenborough was 32 years old and King Charles III was only 10. By that point, Attenborough was already an established broadcaster in the 1950s, laying the foundation for the career that would eventually make him one of the most recognizable nature presenters in the world. Meanwhile, the future King Charles III was still a child, years away from becoming Prince of Wales and decades from ascending the throne. Attenborough had joined the BBC in 1952, meaning his television career had already begun before the televised coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953.

How Did Giribala Singh Ever Become a Judge? The Twisha Sharma case is not just tragic. It is deeply disturbing. And for many Indians watching this unfold, it has become a frightening reflection of how broken parts of our system may actually be. The investigation will eventually determine whether Twisha’s death was murder or suicide. That process must be allowed to unfold fairly. But there is one thing the public interviews have already made impossible to ignore. The chilling demeanor of the mother in law, Giribala Singh. The coldness. The lack of empathy. The arrogance. The almost complete emotional detachment while speaking about a young woman who lost her life. It sent shivers across the country. But the most terrifying part is this. Giribala Singh was not just another domineering relative. She was a District Court Judge. Pause and think about what that means. A person perceived by millions as deeply controlling, emotionally indifferent, and morally questionable was entrusted with deciding the fate of countless citizens. She sat in judgment over marriages, property disputes, criminal matters, human suffering, and the future of ordinary people. And that raises some serious questions. How are judges selected in this country? Are legal qualifications enough for a position that demands wisdom, empathy, emotional balance, and moral integrity? Can someone who appears incapable of compassion truly deliver justice? And perhaps the most unsettling question of all. How many more such individuals exist inside the system today? How many people wearing the robe of justice may themselves be carrying toxicity, abuse, or darkness behind closed doors? This case is also a heartbreaking reminder for families across India. Reports suggest Twisha repeatedly reached out for help and informed her family about her domestic situation. If that is true, then this tragedy also exposes another painful reality of Indian society. Families often ask daughters to “adjust,” “manage,” or “wait a little longer,” even when the warning signs are screaming for intervention. Sometimes, saving a daughter is more important than saving a marriage. Perhaps if stronger action had been taken earlier, Twisha Sharma would still be alive today. My deepest condolences to her family. But justice for Twisha alone is not enough anymore. This country also needs a serious re examination of who we allow to sit on the bench and decide the lives of others. Because justice without humanity is not justice at all

Khushwant Singh was the man who formally proposed & signed LK Advani’s nominations form for the Lok Sabha election in 1989 during the Ayodhya movement. As for fascism, he was Sanjay Gandhi’s strongest supporter Some context may help.
Ramachandra.M| ರಾಮಚಂದ್ರ.ಎಮ್@nanuramu

Khushwant Singh, in his book, ‘The end of India’, published in 2003, had warned about Narendra Modi and his fascist agenda. Today, in retrospect, one has to say that the great writer was bang on!
