This morning, Mayor Johnson attended the announcement for the second annual Chicago River Swim. It was communicated in advance to each reporter in attendance that due to limited availability, the Mayor would only be able to take on-topic questions. This is common practice for such announcements.

I think if you wanted to start a new publication in Chicago, these are the areas I'd focus on:
-HS sports: High schools are an identity in Chicago. Builds a loyal following/subscribers
-Food: Eater left a big hole here, somebody needs to fill it!
-Arts: emphasis on criticism

They'd start writing this afternoon! A 300-person newsroom would cost about $80 million a year (running a little lean). Just saying. I hear there are some billionaires out there looking for places to invest.

Along w/ need for clearing snow, this tragedy really highlights how high front ends on pickups and SUVs contribute to poor sight lines. The feds should ban such designs, but obviously that's not going to happen under Trump. -JG
