all this rbr softs jokes but what are mercedes doing with that amount of hards and no mediums

🚨 BREAKING | Mercedes and Red Bull can use their 2026 engines Mercedes and Red Bull Powertrains can proceed on their own terms. The FIA has admitted that the combustion chambers of their respective engines are legal if, during tests carried out at room temperature, a compression ratio of 16:1 is measured. It doesn't matter if, when heated, the resulting value is higher. It's the same concept as flexible wings: they don't move under static test loads but then literally deform as the aerodynamic load increases. Via @Motorsport_IT

🚨Mercedes has been in dialogue with the FIA throughout the rules process so there is no element of it having tried to sneak something through ❗️ - The team has received reassurance that its interpretation of the [2026] rules is in line with the FIA’s, and has therefore continued with its design process. 🚨BREAKING | F1 braced for potential protest over alleged power unit trick Motorsport Magazin has reported that Ferrari, Audi, and Honda have made representations to the FIA over a potential trick The geometric compression ratio of the power units is limited to 16:1 under the new technical regulations, with rival teams believing Mercedes, and possibly also Red Bull Powertrains, could have discovered a method to bring this back up to the 18:1 level it is in 2025 It is believed that the trick could be worth up to around 15bhp, which, around the Albert Park lap in Melbourne, could be worth up to three-tenths of a second per lap
