Thanks for the thoughtful reflections and sharing. Especially appreciate the connections between the Vision of our ELL and wellbeing components. Now to action👌

A5 - Also consider how the vision and 6 key aspects of well-being connect to the six principles of teaching ELLs (below). There are several common threads - e.g., meaningful learning.#ELLOntario

A4. Build in opportunities for students to interact and get to know one another as a part of learning activities – problem-solving in math/science/art; walks outside for science/social studies/HPE; mix groups and roles; invite families to visit, share & learn #ELLOntario

@KRuthard We also need to consider supporting our front office staff in knowing how to create a welcoming environment for all families as well as what questions to ask if registering new families

@naomi_lawrence1 So true. Teaching requires bravery, reflection, honesty and often the need to start over again and again. #ELLontario

A3: barriers for my Ss and families often include being unable to access programs and support due to lack of transportation. Community outreach workers have been fabulous with sourcing free bus tickets, and we try to hold mtgs with school as a central hub. #ellontario

A3 - such an important question. It is key to work to remove any barriers...rather just 'work around them'. Love this image #ELLOntario

A3 - Barriers in the classroom could include the reading material/resources that students use. Students need to see themselves in these materials. Student voice can help build an inclusive library. #ELLOntario

@GillianSup4ELL A1: When we teach through an equity lens and focus on student well-being, we provide an even playing field for achievement. #ELLOntario

@hjjokim @ELLontario Q1. It means having high expectations, paying attention to the whole learner and to potential barriers that may be impacting both well-being and achievement. Working to eliminate those. #ELLOntario

Ss want to share with each other; they are ready to take risks; they are drafting their understanding out loud #ASCDL2L
