Con is divisions don't matter. Same discussion happens in nfl. As a season ticket holder I like regular season divisional matchups to carry more weight. Go 1 v 8 no reason to have divisions at all. scheduling - it was a money grab for an empty nhl Saturday.

I responded to your comment on scheduling. Now you are changing the subject to playoff format. The format is about creating regular season rivals. If you go 1 v 8, why not 1 v 16. Then why even have conferences or divisions. But, yes if a division is weak it effects the matchups.
