@ElevenLabs 1) Hi dear friends at 11Labs, it would be a fantastic addition to allow people create or have more control over the quality of their 11Reader audiobooks. Having something generate like Odyssey (Cinematic Version), imo, would lead to more books actually listened.

Brilliant marketing!

Michael Caine narrating an AI-generated audiobook of THE ODYSSEY weeks before Christopher Nolan’s movie opens is brilliant marketing. Not for Nolan. For ElevenLabs. Caine has spent decades appearing in Nolan’s films, so using his licensed voice immediately connects this audiobook to the biggest movie conversation of the summer without paying for an official tie-in. The entire 13-hour production uses a public-domain translation, 20 additional AI voices, generated music and sound effects, and was completed by four producers in six weeks. That is the real sales pitch. Caine is retired. He knows his voice is part of his legacy, and he has chosen to license it while he is still here to make that decision. James Earl Jones did something similar with Darth Vader. Tom Hanks is already publicly wondering whether AI could preserve Woody after he is gone. More aging actors are going to make these deals. Some will see it as preserving their work. Others will see it as surrendering control over performances they never actually gave. The first real test is not whether the technology can sound like Michael Caine. It is whether listeners can forget that it is not Michael Caine long enough to care about the story. Would you listen to an audiobook narrated by the licensed AI voice of an actor you loved?

My preferred vibe-coding stack is: - a text-to-speech app (I like ElevenReader) - a speech-to-text app (I like Monologue) - a vibe-coding platform (lately I like the $100 tier of Claude Code) The first two matter a lot for how my brain works.

Like many Greek epics, Homer’s Odyssey was originally delivered orally and may even have had backing music. It’s a huge privilege to bring the story to life as an AI audiobook with a cinematic score and narration together with Sir Michael Caine.
