I visited my parent at their place yesterday. There is this Egbò Àdúgbo who always look out for me and my siblings growing up, who is also very fond of my parent. He’s 42, educated, responsible, doesn’t drink or smoke, a genuinely good man. But his weakness? He keeps attracting women who use him. Yesterday he came around the house, proudly told me he’s finally found “the one.” He said they’ve been cohabiting for 3 months, no sex yet, and planning marriage. I was genuinely happy for him. Later, I ran into them together on my way back home. He introduced her as “my everything.” In excitement, I greeted her warmly and jokingly asked if she wants to marry “us” or just chop and go. Her response broke my heart. She said: “I don’t know what he told you, but we’re just friends. There’s nothing romantic between us, and it will never happen.” I pulled him aside. He admitted everything. He said he lied to me because he loves her and was hoping she would change her mind. He said he's been the only one funding everything, cooking for her, washing her clothes, ordering food, paying all bills. She does nothing. I was speechless. Right there I told him, the girl his not for him and that she's only with him to ruin him and that she has to go. He immediately defended her and told me he knew what he's doing.💔 I couldn't cry. I had to tell him we'll talk later and left. The situation has been troubling my Mind because a good man should not be in that situation. I want to help but I don't know how I can help him.
