@jacobingalls I spoke with Zac Robinson's sister at a golf tournament in Colorado. She told me her family did not like Gundy because he made Zac play injured. Gundy has his detractors.

@jacobingalls @Okstatebuckets @OKSTProbs There’s less congestion down the field, especially along the sidelines which is where he often chose to go. He was a limited passer with bad mechanics after coming from a very simplistic offense in high school. He had some monster games & some soul crushing ones that cost us.

@OneFlyMule @Okstatebuckets @OKSTProbs If we had played real air raid, using crossing concepts and actually threw a 20-30 yard post on occasion it would have opened up the game a lot. OSU has had a lot of middle level arms over the last 20 years but the offensive scheme still allowed them to throw for a lot.

@jacobingalls @Okstatebuckets @OKSTProbs I would say it’s hard to get YAC when you can’t throw over the defenses head. Consistent 1v1 matchups on the outside, box loaded to take away run, & trouble making simple throws. His greatness came from his ability to scramble when plays broke down.

I was paid to cover OSU sports during the 2021 season and I have listed his faults until I’m blue in face. The play calling for someone with great legs and an average arm was not right. We did not try to get YAC yards and for some reason outlawed the 12 curl route. After seeing how the offense changed when Gundy got fired, I understand how much he put his finger in the scale. If Spencer had Monken, dana or yurcich, he would have been put in a much better place to succeed and with top tier D could have made a run at the natty.

@jacobingalls @Okstatebuckets @OKSTProbs While Dunn was not the best OC, SS revisionist history is crazy. He constantly under threw the ball & argued w/the coaches. Great athlete w/an average arm who couldn’t read a defense. Did we forget he was carried by the D his last season?

@PistolRick @AlldayOstate We never gave him the chance to be great, forced him to hero ball and throw so many 50/50 balls up the sidelines. Some of these teams were stacked and if we ran the same offense we ran with Zac he would have been an all timer

@Okstatebuckets @OKSTProbs He was often put into bad spots by Dunn, sideline 50/50 balls, longer than needed throws. Over using the RB, Spencer had a pick problem but he was never really given the chance. I could go through a list of former OCs that he would have crushed under
