It’s not the system, it’s not the play caller, it’s not the plays, it’s the player. His inability to execute at a high level is on him alone.

OSU has had a lot of middle level arms over the last 20 years but the offensive scheme still allowed them to throw for a lot.

@jacobingalls @Okstatebuckets @OKSTProbs I would say it’s hard to get YAC when you can’t throw over the defenses head. Consistent 1v1 matchups on the outside, box loaded to take away run, & trouble making simple throws. His greatness came from his ability to scramble when plays broke down.

I was paid to cover OSU sports during the 2021 season and I have listed his faults until I’m blue in face. The play calling for someone with great legs and an average arm was not right. We did not try to get YAC yards and for some reason outlawed the 12 curl route. After seeing how the offense changed when Gundy got fired, I understand how much he put his finger in the scale. If Spencer had Monken, dana or yurcich, he would have been put in a much better place to succeed and with top tier D could have made a run at the natty.

When SGA is on the floor is when the games feel tight. When Caruso/Mccain are on the floor they put the games away. Means more than your 27-11, especially when half of his points in game 3 are from the line.
