@sykesjeff Hi, can you confirm for me if this is a buzzard or something else. Drove past it yesterday with its roadkill and wasn't happy we disturbed it! Sorry the photos aren't great. Thanks

July 2025 update. Unfortunately the scarves have now seen better days, disintegrating and dirty. 😕

On #GlobalMNDAwarenessDay, we're thinking of every life touched by motor neurone disease - those we’ve lost, those still fighting, and those affected, every day. Drop a name or photo of someone you’re thinking of. Let’s turn the replies into a tribute wall 💙

@SoVeryBritish Baggage reclaim carousel on arrival at holiday destination airport. Partner's case comes through fairly quickly. He then panicks "that's it, yours is lost" even though loads of other people from flight also waiting. Takes a while but my bag finally appears! 😁

18 Very British Problems with… Going to the Airport 🧳✈️ 1. Being advised to get to the airport 2 hours before your flight, so getting there 6 hours before, just in case. 2. Having to cross at least seventeen mini roundabouts before finally arriving at Long Stay Parking. 3. Waiting 53 minutes for a shuttle bus advertised as “every 15 minutes”. 4. Hoping your suitcase will somehow weigh less if you put it on the scale very gently while wincing. 5. Worrying you’ve accidentally hidden 10 kilos of cocaine around your body as you go through security. 6. Never being more flustered than when trying to put your belt back on in a hurry. 7. Being determined not to stop in Duty Free, until the sight of a bear dressed as a Beefeater next to a plastic Union Jack-patterned Mini full of shortbread proves irresistible. 8. Splashing out £130 on ostentatious sunglasses because you’re on holiday so money isn’t real. You’ll sit on them on day 2 of your holiday. 9. Trying to act as if casually applying eight different perfumes is a completely natural thing to do. 10. Buying a travel pillow, thereby decreasing the total amount of space you'll have on the plane by about a third. 11. Coming perilously close to knocking over a display of extremely expensive whiskey with your massive rucksack. 12. Wondering if five novels will be enough reading material for a flight from Luton to Alicante. 13. Wishing your partner would hurry up taking the photo of you giving a thumbs-up next to a giant Toblerone. 14. Searching every single clothes pocket and bag compartment to locate your boarding pass, which is in your hand. 15. Thinking that going to the pub at 7am is normal behaviour. 16. Never feeling a more powerful rush of adrenaline as when your gate number appears on the board. 17. Replying to the airport staff member's “have a good holiday” with "thanks, you too!" 18. Protecting your spot at baggage reclaim as if your family's life depends on it. * Check out the Very British Problems books if you enjoyed that: shorturl.at/npfbv

@wesandpete @bhx_official It was exactly the same 4 weeks ago. Got there at 6am for 8.25 flight. Baggage check in was quick but then queued for 2 hours 15 mins to get through security and scanning. Made the gate, after running, with 5 mins to spare. Others were on earlier flights, doubt they made it. 🤬

Well we’ve just about made it. Got through Birmingham Airport security queue with the boards telling us ‘final call’. No time to buy anything, get food, go to the loo, make use of the lounge I’ve paid for or sit down after being on our feet for well over two hours. Absolutely shambles and a terrible, stressful, exhausting start to the holiday. When bag drop doesn’t open until two hours before the flight, and it takes one hour and 45 minutes to clear security, it’s just absolutely the most stressful start to the holiday. My advice to everyone is get here three hours before, drop your bag as early as you can, wrap up, make sure you have drinks and food for the queue - and vow to yourself never to fly from this dump until they sort their shit out.

Just joined the Birmingham Airport security queue. It’s 5.18am - let’s see how quickly we get through. Don’t have fast track. I’ll do the job that the @bhx_official comms team don’t. Awful for anybody elderly, with a disability, kids or if it was raining #birminghamairportqueue

@CarlBovisNature Lucky (and a bit nervous on my part) to see this adder on a quiet section of the beach in Sheringham, North Norfolk, four years ago. My partner thought it was a discarded piece of fishing rope at first and nearly picked it up as a piece of litter!
