The UI era is ending. 🪦 For 70 years we designed computer interfaces. Mainframe, CLI, GUI, Touch. But with AI, the interface is disappearing. What will come next? My talk from @mastra's conf this week:

How is it possible that the literal ceo of y combinator is so utterly credulous and falls for the most obvious AI marketing slop???

@bekacru The amount of energy necessary to formulate those phrases is larger than what is needed to click a mouse button one time.

Every dashboard at this point should have `cmdk` that does things using ai. I want to be able to open cmdk on vercel and say "redeploy project x" or on stripe "add a product with this details" like every dashboard should work like this We shouldn't be clicking around or learning how to use your product

In the case of Windows 11's Snipping Tool, Microsoft has removed the Copilot/AI button completely. It's a big win 🥳

Breaking: Microsoft quietly removes Copilot branding from Notepad and Snipping Tool on Windows 11. Microsoft appears to be doing exactly what it promised after the Windows quality reset. Notepad has now removed Copilot branding and replaced it with a simpler “Writing tools” icon, while Snipping Tool no longer seems to show the Copilot button. AI is still there, but Microsoft is clearly stepping back from plastering Copilot branding across Windows 11. Honestly, this is probably the smarter move, as users were tired of seeing Copilot branding.

@beknabdik @JustinBleuel A work around I found was to explicitly say that I am using voice mode and use a prompt like "avoid using code/quote blocks, respond in a conversational style"

@jaibi_ai @JustinBleuel voice mode lumps every ``` block into 'dont read' - quotes, hex, pseudocode all get stuffed with code. needs semantic classification before tts, not pattern matching on backticks

@codedgar_dev @jaibi_ai exactly, it creates the illusion of transparency by recording the outside of the browser and then projecting it when the window goes back to that position more details #how-it-works" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">github.com/javierbyte/bac…

France just said it out loud: “We can’t depend on foreign tech anymore.” So they’re: • leaving Windows → migrating to Linux • replacing tools with EU alternatives (Tchap, Visio, FranceTransfert) • moving sensitive data to sovereign infrastructure • pushing open standards + interoperability • forcing each ministry to cut foreign dependencies 80,000+ public workers already migrating. Full rollout plans due by late 2026. This isn’t just IT. It’s national strategy. Control the tech → control the data. Big shift. More countries will follow.

Hot take: Anthropic is deliberately distilling Opus 4.6 (lowering its quality) to build hype and anticipation for Mythos which might drop in q3 It’s a marketing stunt IMO. Make the current model feel a bit weaker so the next one hits harder with a bigger perceived jump.

local gemma 4 first impressions on openclaw, using the dense model, 26b model with 49gb weights on my asus gx10 took some time to set up, but it succeded in getting a response in 1-2 hours with vllm docs I asked it to demonstrate some tool calls. it tried to call the nonexistent weather tool 2300 times 🙄 it seems to have a tendency to get stuck in loops in openclaw harness. enabling loop detection just now did not help I’m debugging this on my phone lol. I’ll be sharing my progress with gemma4 under this thread

@SakshiSugandhi This is true, but there are counter examples from history. For example, after the press was invented, 100% of the adult population became published authors.

@GergelyOrosz I notice a general trend of "sameness" across all mediums. You'd think that people using AI would result in a rich variety of styles, each person empowered by AI to improve their potential and refine their own voice, yet the current situation is the opposite.

I use AI a lot for deep research and summarization. One thing I'm noticing across all models (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini) is how they are becoming... more generic? More "AI-templated" in writing? Lazier? (Using the same tired phrases again and again) As the models supposedly get better, I subjectively feel they are the same or worse in this area.
