Our framework assumes that the Earth's natural geological processes will either open the strait so wide as to make it impossible to block or close it irrevocably to ship traffic. We've anchored this assumption to June 1 though it may take 150-200 million years or more.

That Trump was surprised or disappointed in Iran’s response reflects analytical breakdown in assessing the regime. Either CIA analysts aren’t doing their jobs or Trump isn’t listening. The US has misread Iran consistently since war began.
