One thing hasn’t changed I still love watching Mitch Marner play hockey.

@CakeMcJabe Key points, draft McKenna it’s not hard. Pelley away from cameras, live mic’s, podiums, radio, no pulse on Leafs, and Chayka is fine. Could do a lot worse and who knows he may be quite good. Like the Sundin partnership for more than just optics. He’ll bring a bright POV.

Why would anybody want this job now ? You have gone thru numerous good coaches . Team sucks now . This is not a desirable job . Its the players . not the coaches . babcock is too mean . keefe is too soft . beruebe is too mean . it goes in circles #NHL

@mikyotex No fit, no pulse on things. 1 year removed from a division win though, just think he was one of many flaws. Team was slow, no identity, and no depth. Top or bottom. They were rudderless on the ice, and off. Another coach would’ve helped. How much, dunno.

@JudeTML He also completely turfed the deployment though. Playing Matthews like Kampf, never moving Laughton up, dressing some of the worst D pairs anyone could come up with, a moribund PP, etc. the guy steered a somewhat wonky but sea-fairing vessel into an iceberg.

Berube was not a fit at all but here’s the stark truth. If this was a great team they’d coach themselves more or less. By the time you reach this level you’ve seen every system, you go play. Open the gate, make tweaks. It’s a necessary move, small step towards a fix.

Was stoned every single moment I spent on here last time around. Often fairly drunk too lol. Been clean and sober over a year. Was a paranoid narcissist who couldn’t be wrong. Lacked humility. Sorry if I was ever a dick.

@JudeTML I'm not sure what sentiments like this are supposed to mean. The management should always be looking to diagnose any areas of weakness and try to improve, irrespective of if the team is great and winning.

@DavidsonDo40325 Wasn’t backhanded it was direct. They won the division the year previous. Same guy. Should be fired, not a fit, but not the central issue.

@DavidsonDo40325 Maybe I’m oversimplifying but I stand by the majority of it. Good coaches or teams the players are empowered to take over. Often coaches work one place and don’t another. It’s an overrated position. There’s value yet I believe overblown.

@CakeMcJabe Tbh I watched like 4 games lol. I knew of how he was getting deployed it didn’t make a lot of sense. If any.

@JudeTML We owe it to ourselves to see if Matthews' dip in production was systems based (I suspect it was). I also don't love how he used Cowan last year and his reluctance to infuse the lineup with younger players when the season was lost.

@DavidJambo Fair enough and don’t disagree but if you’re a true 2 way stud making x amount of dollars it shouldn’t much matter. I’ve seen a lot of that usage talk and sure there’s merit, how much is debatable.

@JudeTML for all the talk of "buy in" etc, I think player deployment is the biggest coaching impact. Matthews being used as a shutdown C for 2 years now is such a brutal allocation of resources. excited to see something different.

I came back to ensure Berube was let go. My work here is done.

@joeybaseball_9 Yeah, I’d almost forgotten about it. Great experiences. Had its turmoil but over complicating the simple, love of Leafs hockey that’s all it is at the core.
