I've never seen a convincing argument for why the Others are a genuinely implacable evil that Westeros needs to destroy in war. even ignoring how un-GRRM this kind of framing is, what do we actually know about them for sure that puts them so far beyond typical human cruelty?

@antlionai @GeringerAdam And the government is very, very, very serious about evicting and blacklisting on missed payment. So you'll get 60% for a couple of months tops, then a new tenant, very little work on your end. Dealing with that on your own is an absolute nightmare.

@antlionai @GeringerAdam The biggest headache known to man is a tenant who isn't paying rent in a state like NY where it takes months to years and thousands of dollars in legal fees to get them out. Doesn't exist with section 8.

@FoolishBB @will_nba_hater I won't be surprised if he struggles. He's really, really incredible at hitting strikes really hard, but he doesn't have a good approach and he doesn't have good plate discipline. Hitting behind a top 5 OBP player in the sport mitigated that a lot of the time last year.

@will_nba_hater I think he can approach 160 wRC+. At least 150. He was 141 last year while underperforming the above power metrics. In the video, I also addressed the "value" (which I assume is synonymous with WAR for you) and how Statcast specifically might underrated his defense (scoops).

@shizunsus No, I think brandon's death was absolutely ridiculously stupid. At least oberyn took the time to ensure he actually got to fight the man responsible. If brandon just took like a week to get his head out of his asshole, he probably doesn't get himself and everyone he loves killed.

@madeleinewintr Everyone wants cersei out because she's a dangerous moron, not because she's a lannister, evidenced by everyone wanting kevan lannister to serve as regent/hand, because he's competent. Tywin understood that the lannisters can't rule the 7 kingdoms alone. They don't have dragons.

i'll defend cersei on this because it is very obvious that the tyrells are angling to replace her and the lannisters in general as the dominant house in westeros and tywin really badly underestimated them.

@benjpalmer @PitchingNinja I just don't think hitters were looking to hit it. If pitchers start trying to drop that in for a quick 1st pitch strike more often now, I expect to start seeing it get crushed sooner than later.

On the surface, this approach may feel like a high risk/reward approach because if you don’t locate your curve well at the top, you throw a hanger
But hitters had just a .256 wOBA and .141 ISO against curves thrown in the top third of the zone last year. It’s a solid strategy
