Love how claude/codex have lowered the barriers even further than nocode tools for trying out new ideas. I've been building a ai gym tracking app just for myself, would never have spent time on it before but now it's a fun evening project.

@_smorgan It’s easy to forget we’re absolutely in our own echo chamber here on Twitter. Half the time I feel like I’m way behind but then I talk to people outside the bubble and realise I’m not at all.

Had a really engaging conversation with my non-technical wife tonight about the arbitrage opportunity that exists in software right now. Talking through everything out loud made me realize how much of a bubble tech twitter is. My biggest takeaway, and something I want to remind myself of continuously through all of the noise of tech twitter telling me that ai is going to take my job: most people do not want to build their own software, no matter how “easy” it is to do. To me, this was the promise no-code made me back in 2020. That as a technical person, if I committed enough time and energy into what I knew to be a fruitful skill set, I could participate in an industry that traditionally told me I didn’t have the experience or training to do so. I think that promise still holds true today, and will continue to hold true for the foreseeable future.

@mattblake_uk I use 1Password, but there is always a competition between macOS, chrome and 1Password to get the passkey, it’s such a mess

@jamesdevonport Really what password manager are you using? I’ve been using them with 1Password in Arc and Zen and they’re much better than the password manager guessing the fields to complete on the page.

Lost ~30 (obviously) legit reviews today. Getting reviews is already incredibly hard: I only get 1 or 2 per month. Meanwhile, competitors somehow collect dozens every day and barely seem affected by these removals. Pretty confused by what’s going on.

🚨 PPM is half the cost of Fuel Duty 🚨 According to @AutoExpress the incoming eVED (pay-per-mile tax), will be huge. Context: eVED is around half the cost of Fuel Duty averaged over 10k miles. Transparency and context is essential so people can make informed decisions.

@jamesdevonport I tried this with bank statements and receipts last year and it didn't quite manage it (I used the OpenAI API, can't remember which model) and I was praying that by the next time I had to do it, things would have improved. "Improved" I imagine is an understatement 🤣

Saved literally hours filing my VAT return this month by having Codex + Sol go through my email inbox using the Gmail connector, find every VAT invoice, build a report then put it all in a email back to my accountant. One of my most hated admin jobs... gone!

@hrishio Yes I agree, still went through them all but made it a lot easier to have them all put into a spreadsheet / zip folder ready for me

@jamesdevonport I have thought of doing this too. But as much as I hate it, I think looking closely at my spend once a quarter is good financial discipline.

@petecallaghans Feels quite close now... with a connection to Xero and HMRC it could do everything.

The combo of Expo + Convex + Clerk has been blowing me away as a stack for building iOS apps. Built 2 new apps in the last week alone using this stack and they look and feel amazing. Will write up this full recipe in newsletter soon!
