@DestinyBulletn @PaulTassi No shit. Bungie management has always kept staff in the dark. None of the companies that owned Bungie were the bad guys, the call has always been coming from inside the house.

@ThePrimeagen remember "pics or it didn't happen?" I feel like we need to normalize seeing these "used to take a year, did it in a few days" features and apps and public shaming when it's not provided

Honestly why stop at 100x engineer? Just use more agents, you literally could be 1000x, 10000x, 100000x just by scaling You could what you use to in an entire year in one second

@personalhimbo That said, this was also 100% a judgment call on Bungie's part. They didn't think maintaining older content was worth it, so they cut it from the game.

@personalhimbo Their pipeline sounded like a genuine nightmare, taking days to get a build out the door. It may have kept things from exploding, but it didn't seem like the DCV helped all that much either. I suspect Tiger is a real monster, limiting their talent pool and making them slower

@atmOnyx Sony/MS-level companies absolutely let big IPs languish, look at Halo. Hermen Hulst is all in on Horizon, and they didn't own Bungie when Destiny was making all that revenue.

Call it cope but Sony isn’t gonna let one of the single greatest and most lucrative IP’s just die after paying $3.6 BILLION for the studio. Chances are it’s a cutoff of losses ending D2 and a beginning of developing D3 fresh engine, new story and an actual plan going forward

Thinking about it btw lowkey crazy they are not gonna end the Fate Saga. Like would they start D3 with it or just leave it open? Would feel weird to start D3 with it since idk if many care as much as the original story tbh.
Destiny 2@DestinyTheGame

Read the full blog at bung.ie/d2_may_21_2026 For almost twelve years, we have had the joy and honor to explore the Destiny universe with you all. Through all the ups and downs, surprises and triumphs, building Destiny alongside our players has been a monumental privilege. While our love for Destiny 2 has not changed, it has become clear that after The Final Shape, we have reached the time for our shared worlds, and Destiny, to live beyond Destiny 2. As our focus turns towards a new beginning for Bungie, we will begin work incubating our next games. To that end, on June 9, 2026, we will release the final live-service content update for Destiny 2 to begin that new journey as a studio. Though active development may be concluding, we will ensure that Destiny 2 remains playable, just as the original Destiny is today. Many changes in this final update will aim to ensure that Destiny 2 is a welcoming place for players to return to. We’re proud of Destiny 2, the places it took us, and the legacy it has created. Because of you all, our universe is vast, built on years of shared stories, adventures, and victories. From the Cosmodrome to the Pale Heart to the Lawless Frontier, we have forged life-long memories and friendships with you all. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made that journey with us. From the deepest part of our hearts, thank you, and we'll see you in the stars.

@unclebobmartin I largely agree, I just don’t love that we’re shipping all the ideas that might’ve been left on the cutting room floor previously. A lot of products I use are starting to feel pretty bloated, suggesting the companies behind them are taking a very factory-line view of productivity

@jamesfuston If we are now throttled by our inability to keep the backlog of new ideas full, rather than by our inability to clear a long backlog of ideas, then that’s a good problem to have

@unclebobmartin I'd believe extremes (don't code and those leaning deep into AI) are getting ~5x gains. My main concern at the top is productivity vs. cost. <500 and 100k+ LOC both feel like warning signs. I've seen few companies keep good business ideas coming at the pace LLMs produce code.

@jamesfuston It’s probably less than 20. It’s also probably greater than five. And yes, LOC is a terrible metric, but it’s not completely meaningless.

@typesfast Shipping code faster doesn't mean the team behind the product has more good ideas, just that they can execute on all their ideas, whether or not they were worth doing before LLMs.

With all these AI coding improvements why isn't the software I use everyday getting better?

@edzitron @Kantrowitz The harnesses "learn your context" and that's lock in? That's not even remotely how this works. Skill files, rules etc. (which are all text files) are all trying to get them to play nice. That's as easy to move as he's suggesting it is to move from one provider to another.

Now that we've become dependent on AI models, are the prices about to go up? In many cases, the model makers are creating far more value than they are capturing with token fees, and there's room to double (or even triple) the rates we pay. That's what I think at least. VC @pitdesi says that since there's so much competition, we may see prices stay stable or even fall. That would be great news for us, maybe not as great for those investing in OpenAI, Anthropic, and the rest of the gang. Your thoughts?

70% of Americans think AI is moving too fast. 77% think entire industries will be eliminated. 97% say AI safety should be subject to rules. Maybe, just maybe, it’s time Congress listened to the American people — not just the billionaires pushing it — and regulated AI.
