@BladeoftheS But aren’t they one of the biggest employers now? And pretty sure they pay their employees. Local councils ruined the high street and every government for the last 30 years has allowed big corps to not pay tax - any of them could change that but don’t!

Before Amazon you bought it from the store and they had to pay tax, and they had to rent the store and they had to pay their employees. Now they don't do any of that.

There are 550,000 new University students in the UK every year. Amazon alone could fund 200,000 of them if it paid taxes in the UK. This is how we funded higher education, the billionaires and their companies paid tax. Now they don't and you pay for the rest of your life.

I get absurdly annoyed if I have to purchase products from an ecom store that doesn't have any quickpay options. ShopPay / ApplePay ftw

SMART METERS - First the carrot and now the stick. Because you didn’t behave! Ofgem has issued an urgent warning to “act now” and get a smart meter. RTS electricity meters—will stop working from June 2025 due to the axing of their radio signals. Bit by bit …

Can anyone help me launch on Amazon FBA UK / Europe? We need help with VAT registration, and also product registration to clear UK customs. Absolutely willing to pay an expert to help us get this dialed in...

@ehawk90 Huge pain in the ass, basically deferred until delivered but doesn’t affect all transactions. Massive nightmare when trying to compare business reports sales data to transaction reports data - all over the place

What are these "new" deferred transactions? is this a way of Amazon holding onto more cash for longer? Doesn't seem to explicitly say when the funds get released....

Looking for a good Meta & Google ad agency based in the UK ideally. Need to be heavily involved in creative strategy not just media buying side. Drop me a DM or comment below.

@GavinSweeneyy Amazon wants to control all the brands eventually all sellers will probably get kicked out or leave voluntarily.

Has anyone checked in on the Obvi ad account lately...lol I have mixed thoughts: - They have clearly mastered AI-generated creative at scale in a really remarkable way - This is probably the necessary approach in order to scale a brand to their size in such a competitive category on Meta - The above fact is something that brand owners are often unable to reconcile if they don't come from a performance marketing background - This is why most brands fail - If we produced ads like this for our clients, most would not be happy (with either the designs or how aggressive the copy is) - I will be incorporating some of the creative lessons learned here into the brand that I own, where I have 100% control

@TaylorHoliday @joshjames776 @BeauchampAndrew Once you’ve got the brand up and running you don’t need to invest more in. It’s the taking cash out of the brand that was the issue but if your not doing that then you can grow it without having to worry about earning from it

30%... That's the percentage of EBITDA that most eCommerce businesses are able to distribute at year end. Make $3M in profit: $1M for the tax man $1M for inventory (probably more if you are growing fast) $1M left over to distribute. Rough. Alternatively agency businesses can often distribute upwards of 80% of net income because of the lack of working capital requirements in the business model.

@BeauchampAndrew @TaylorHoliday Spot on. I’ve done both and there are pros and cons on either side. The real win is to do both and live off the agency money whilst the brand grows

@TaylorHoliday The grass is truly always greener. Ask most agency owners and they wish they’d started a brand. Vice versa apparently also true. Truly pros & cons to each. Agencies: great cash flow, poor scale, poor exit op Brands: poor cash flow, scale better, exit potential Accurate, ish?

@tombrown Not always, we started with 12 month deals which were better for us but quickly realised brands didn’t want to be tied in or had been burnt in the past. Shorter term deals were more appealing and our retention has remained the same

Run from any tech provider pushing you into a 12-month contract. I won’t sign contracts with apps anymore – things move and change too fast. If you want the business, you need to earn your keep.
