@Bullskickass @Cubskickass100 What the FO does in FA depends on the draft right. No idea if Graham is going to spend big on any player this offseason. Regardless it will be fun to watch

@angarciatv @JREGILIO @SonRanto No real proof, but I think they would have used the Shota money on another starter. Once he accepted QO, they were only looking at adding Cabrera. Nor a Hoyer fan but he went in with Horton, Shota, Cabrera, Taillon, Boyd and Rea, Assad, Brown, Steele and Wiggins in his plan

Once again they knew they needed arms, they were banking on shota not coming back, and only made the trade for Cabrera. I’m not giving up on him just yet but how do you look at that knowing you were a Horton injury away from this really going south while you waited for Steele? There’s a lot of things in that scenario you have to bank on going right for you and it’s all been the opposite

@SG10BU So players that cannot hit are Counsells fault? Does he get credit if they do hit? The FO has put an expensive team in the dugout, including many vet hitters. Not sure them not hitting can be put on Counsell. How they are arranged, which bench guys play yeah have at him.

#Cubs Seriously, how long does Jed let this go?? All stars like Bregman come to Chicago and struggle. Cubs can’t get hits, can’t score runs which has nothing to do with pitching injuries. Counsell should go now!

@J0YB0YSUNG0D I actually believe that rule applies to players that have been traded and waived or bought out by new team. As a FA the Bulls could resign him. However, it looks like the new FO will take a slower approach. Might not see any big FA or RFA signed.

@cody__cubs Honestly with an offense struggling like this, even if the pitcher didn't have reverse splits, you give starts to Ramirez and Alcantara, just to see if they jump start anything.

In six starts, the Astros starter today has reverse splits. Lefties- 50% groundball rate against, 2.66 FIP, and .127 BA Righties - higher hard contact rate, 4.55 FIP, & .292 BA. It doesn’t matter right now but I wanted to point it out before the lineup comes out.

@PCA4FC Or he can sit next to Alcantara and watch the others attempt to hit, just in different positions in the order.

Hope Kevin Alcantara goes nuclear today and the Cubs never go back to Ian Happ. KA is the future in LF. Might as well get the future started now.

@cody__cubs For some strange reason hitting is contagious and sometimes one spark bounces a team out of a slump. Maybe playing Ramirez and Alcantara will trigger something

The Chicago #Bears are asking for about $1 billion dollars of our taxpayer money to support building infrastructure in and around Arlington Hts. where they hope to build their new stadium. This is why I've tried to follow the stadium saga closely. According to Illinois government officials the Bears have still not provided them with a traffic study that was due some time ago. Palatine Mayor Jim Schwantz stated that the Bears promised a traffic study six weeks after closing on the Arlington Park property. (Bears closed February 25, 2023.) Because the Bears are a private entity and are asking for public support for their stadium, the responsibility for a traffic study does belong to them . They deposited nearly $100,000 into a dedicated municipal escrow account to reimburse the village who voted and hired the consultants as required by law. The work was conducted by Sam Schwartz Consulting - now known as T.Y. Lin Great Lakes. The Bears paused the traffic & environmental studies in 2023 due to the property tax dispute with local school districts But, in August of 2025, Kevin Warren told reporters that the study was on his desk and they were still working on it with government officials. A few months later, the Bears again paused the effort to complete the study following the failure of the Mega Project bill (PILOT) in the fall legislative session. State Sen. Bill Cunningham, a co-sponsor of PILOT, recenty said, ""We can't appropriate state funds without some idea of how exactly they're going to be spent for those purposes without a traffic study." And, that's how it generally works. Traffic impact studies are almost universally required before government funding commitments are made for privately-driven development projects. Kevin Warren was brought into his role with the Chicago Bears to lead efforts in the building of a stadium in Arlington Hts., because of his work as COO in the development of U.S. Bank Stadium. Was he involved in securing a traffic study before construction began in Minneapolis? No. The Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority (MSFA) board was responsible for the study. Unlike in Illinois, MSFA was allowed to complete their traffic study after funding legislation was passed, because it was a public authority driving the project, unlike the Chicago Bears who are a private entity. Now, the Illinois General Assembly's regular spring session is scheduled to officially adjourn on May 31 and lawmakers are running out of time to pass PILOT, the bill the Bears state is integral to staying in Illinois If I am wrong on anything, please comment below. I always appreciate constructive criticism.

@MJMcElwee @DEvanAltman Would love to know how many cubs hitters have their own hitting coach? Not sure that there has been as much analytical changes to coaching hitting as there have been to pitching.

On the plus side ...Ethan Roberts has looked pretty good. Would like to see him get a longer run, although as the guy with options, he likely gets sent to Iowa for a fresh arm unless Maton will agree that he has "tightness" and makes an IL stint...

@ByDrewStevens A reason to believe the FO will be carefull with salary cap. Not sure any RFA will be worth the $25-30 mill they will demand.

Bryson Graham. A top-four pick. A coaching search increasingly tied to development-oriented candidates. Whether intentional or not, the Bulls continue to look like an organization building a timeline that grows together instead of trying to patch one together.

@jacobinfante24 He does not have a plan or semblance of one that would be amenable to the Bears. What he wants to do is cause chaos, delay the AH decision and Senate bill thinking either 1) bears will give up and stay in Chicago or 2) the team will offer to bail out city as a bribe.

The #Bears want to own the land their new stadium is on, and they want discounted property taxes. Brandon Johnson is offering them neither. Until he budges, a new stadium in Chicago proper has no chance of happening.
Tahman Bradley@tahmanbradley

“Hammond, Indiana, it’s already been described by the Chicago Tribune as a wasteland.” Also, “There is no plan for Arlington Heights.” Mayor Johnson jabs Hammond and Arlington Heights, as he pitches Chicago as best site for a new Bears stadium.

@BarstoolChief All very fair thoughts and likely many fans feel the same way. Question though, do you believe the Bears should be able to do what makes sense from a business standpoint? Indiana and AH are good business decisions, less so building in Chicago, less so staying at Soldiers F.
