So, I have two personal favorite bits of writing from the (fairly distant, now) past. One was the most fun—and most infuriating: a rehearing petition in the Indiana Supreme Court . . . including Monte Hall. (No friends made with *that*, needless to say.)

The College Football Playoff selection committee really screwed up this time.
The process has to work for the CFP to earn and keep our trust. This one didn’t. This one made a mockery of the whole sport.

The way the College Football season shaped up, the CFP Committee had an opportunity to do the most right thing with the smallest backlash.
Alabama and BYU getting blown out in their conference championship games opened the door to put both Notre Dame and Miami in.
Instead they dropped the ball and punished BYU for losing, didn’t punish Alabama for losing and then flipped Notre Dame and Miami despite neither of them playing a game.
None of it makes sense.
They did the thing that would give them the most backlash just to have 5 SEC teams in the playoff.
That makes everyone question the integrity of the process and rightfully so.

Notre Dame AD Pete Bevacqua called this whole thing an "absolute joke" and he's absolutely right #NDFB #GoIrish

Column: A good team had to go, that's the hard truth. But Alabama's free pass after being smoked in the SEC title game -- the meeting that could have been an email -- doesn't make sense. Neither does the tortured process of comparing ND and Miami. bit.ly/44goFY5

So folks at @espn are upset ND isn’t playing in a bowl game after weeks of folks politicking against the lack of conference affiliation, using them as a pawn for their CFB playoff selection show, having the ACC network play the UM/ND game on repeat for 48 hours during Conf Champ week BUT now it’s a bad look they don’t want to serve ESPN’s best interest by playing in an exhibition bowl game? Got it.

@CFBHeather TTU/BYU score is almost the same as earlier in the season. Current rankings accounted for this score. BYU should stay in same spot.
