Today we're introducing TRIBE v2 (Trimodal Brain Encoder), a foundation model trained to predict how the human brain responds to almost any sight or sound. Building on our Algonauts 2025 award-winning architecture, TRIBE v2 draws on 500+ hours of fMRI recordings from 700+ people to create a digital twin of neural activity and enable zero-shot predictions for new subjects, languages, and tasks. I've been yapping about this for a while, but now Meta is finally saying the quiet part out loud: they scan how your brain responds to anything you see or hear, then create a digital twin of your neural activity to predict what you're thinking and how you'll react.

When you take into account the accretion of human knowledge across many fields, the amount of data that exists, and our capacity to discover and apply it, you can make the case that today is quantitatively the best day that's ever happened—and tomorrow will be even better than today, compounding forward and scaling ad infinitum.

Game theory + probability theory + supply & demand + marketing psychology + delusional optimism + insane implementation speed = the highest form of leverage.

As we move through the late 20s and 30s of the third millennium, pattern recognition is and always will be the most important human skill. Don't forget.

True introspection is very difficult because the mind has to examine itself while also being the thing doing the examining, and because it can't fully model its own moment-to-moment operation, it can never see the whole system at once. It's sort of like a shitty camera pointed at a mirror. Very few minds ever get close.

My big conclusion from this week: Introspection causes emotional disorders.

I spoke to Anthropic’s AI agent Claude about AI collecting massive amounts of personal data and how that information is being used to violate our privacy rights. What an AI agent says about the dangers of AI is shocking and should wake us up.
