Why in the world is Consumer Reports quoting these insane, unrealistic insurance rates for Teslas? I’ve never heard of anyone paying $400/mo to insure a Model 3.

@briandstone Per consumer reports….interesting…I’ll give my insurance company a call to see what they say.

Saint Patrick’s today. I’m so cooked. I had a new green button up shirt and everything, yet this morning I just stumbled in the dark morning and threw on something from the closest, forgetting. I teach 5th graders. They aren’t going to let this one down.

Came into the kitchen to find my daughter pulling a hardcore Denethor on the last tomatoes.

@jtimsuggs I love following this reading journey. My dad had the entire XWING/Rogue Squadron series and in my early teens I started to pick it up, it was a great way for the two of us to connect. Keep it up!

This one was fun! Certainly preferred the first two books about Wraith Squadron, but Solo Command ended things so well that I honestly can’t imagine it concluding any other way. Was so much fun having Han interact with these characters too. I also have to give massive props to Aaron Allston for helping me appreciate The Courtship Of Princess Leia a little more. Actually wanted to give it another read after finishing this book earlier today!

The X-Wing books from the 90’s seriously had no right to go that hard, but I’m so glad that they did. Just finished the second book earlier today and I’m obsessed. Highly recommend giving them a read!

@jaminwestby @brandenflasch I loved road tripping our Mercedes eSprinter to Crested Butte last month. That thin mountain air is great for efficiency. Big mountain passes are a joy with smooth and powerful electric drivetrains.

I follow and engage with electric vehicle nerds, charging industry experts and long time investors of EV companies. As such I’m sure my perspective as well as theirs is very strongly skewed to one which is roughly “EVs are super easy to live with and even better than equivalent gas or diesel vehicles in every way.” That perspective can not be extrapolated to the vast majority of Americans and even using surrogate experiments like the wonderful example of Norway has little to no meaning. Because of whatever barriers exist our market, behavioral, geographical, and economically the US ≠ Norway. And we should stop making excuses for the current crop of EVs available. If those vehicles haven’t achieved widespread adoption it’s not the non-adopter’s fault, it’s not their lack of knowledge, it’s probably not even charging infrastructure’s fault, but instead it’s a lack of meeting the real consumers where they really live, work, and recreate that’s at the heart of the issue here. I am on my 7th EV at this point and can’t imagine getting a gas SUV or even a diesel pickup or van, no matter the use case. But just because that’s my mindset, I have given up trying to change others to make that jump. They have their reasons and no matter what’s happening the current crop of EVs available simply don’t meet their expectations.

Lots of talk of new BYD EV charging specs. I can charge my Tesla Model 3 at a super charger from low to ‘how-much-I-need-to-get-home’ in the time it takes me to walk into Buc-ee’s, take a leak, get an iced tea, and walk back to my car.

@dictionaryhill I prefer to stay out of debt; I buy vehicles cash, and if there's a big ticket item we want, we don't buy it until we have the cash to do so. Or really, we use our one single credit card for points and use cash to pay it off right away.

This spring heatwave coming next week means at my home, 9,000ft elevation, we may hit 70º. What. the. heck.
