Please can people stop trying to pick holes in the police investigation into the murder of Ann Widdecombe. It’s perfectly plausible that the guy drove 275 miles in 4 hours, murdered a random old lady who turned out to be a high profile politician and then drove home again. Now just let the police do their job!

The Mail on Sunday’s supposedly highly placed source claiming Widdecombe’s family were very uneasy about Farage at the scene doesn’t seem to tell the full story. Her nephew, the Rev Roger Widdecombe an Anglican priest was also there with Nigel Farage. Respectful tributes from colleagues and friends aren’t hijacking her death for politics, especially when family members are present too.
