Collecting ideas: what apps do you self-host? (for personal/small biz use) I'm thinking along the lines of things like Plex, gaming servers, business tooling (scheduling, doc signing), analytics, wikis etc

Over the last 5 years I have bought 3 printers and printed on average a single page with each. Off to buy a 4th....

Claude Sonnet testing going well... "I don't know if dogs like chicken or not. The provided context does not contain any information related to dogs liking chicken. It appears to be some kind of code, but it does not mention anything about the dietary preferences of dogs."

Yes, conversion to mercury is way more relevant than the password manager I've been using for 10+ years. Every fucking time....

@simonw I've also gotten really good at it. I think people who dislike it must have given up too early. You have to learn what to expect, what works, what doesn't work, how to position your cursor (e.g. to not get distracting suggestions), and how to prompt it well via code/comments

Realized I've reached the point now with GitHub Copilot autocomplete where I can often guess exactly what it's going to suggest, pause for a moment to wait for it to make the suggestion and accept it and move on It's majority a typing assistant now and I really like it for that

Marques’ reach is a function of telling the truth. He didn’t always have 18 million subscribers, but he had his integrity from the beginning. Expecting him to abandon that is the only thing that is “distasteful, almost unethical”.
Daniel Vassallo@dvassallo

I find it distasteful, almost unethical, to say this when you have 18 million subscribers. Hard to explain why, but with great reach comes great responsibility. Potentially killing someone else’s nascent project reeks of carelessness. First, do no harm.
