The Senate’s passage of the GENIUS Act marks a historic moment for the future of money. We commend Senators on both sides of the aisle for working together to craft pragmatic, bipartisan legislation that supports innovation while protecting consumers and preserving the strength of the U.S. dollar in the digital age. Since 2021, Senate and House committees have held extensive hearings and markups on stablecoin legislation and the GENIUS Act is the product of those deliberations. We urge the House to act without delay and send this critical bill to the President’s desk so it can become law.

A terrible tragedy occurred in my home state of Minnesota early this morning. A gunman, disguised as a police officer, shot and wounded State Senator John Hoffman and his wife and subsequently shot and killed State Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband.
A few months ago, the bishops of Minnesota visited the State Capitol in order to speak to some of the political leadership of our state. Both Sen. Hoffman and Rep. Hortman were among those we visited with. I was deeply impressed by both. Rep. Hortman listened to us with sharp intelligence and acute attention. And I had a wonderful conversation with Sen. Hoffman, who was a graduate of St. Mary’s University in my diocese. He shared his passion for Catholic Social Teaching.
God knows we are divided society, but our political differences must never, ever give rise to violence. Please pray for the swift recovery of Sen. Hoffman and his wife and for the repose of the souls of Rep. Hortman and her husband.

Caught up with two friends and realized how slow most of the professional world moves.
For context, they're both very successful in trad careers. One is a lawyer and one works in private equity.
Neither of them uses AI. Ever. They don't understand why or even how they'd use it. "I just google things"
One of them has never heard of Stripe. The other couldn't explain the difference between Stripe and Shopify.
Neither of them own Bitcoin (though they do feel like it's finally derisked enough to consider buying some).
Neither of them has heard of stablecoins.
I asked if they would know how to launch a basic website and they said they'd go hire a developer.
If you're reading this, I promise you, you are still so so early.

People *think* they have digital money in the form of Zelle, Venmo, etc. but those aren't transformative technologies, transformative forms of money. Why? Because they ride on old, slow rails.
