I don't think Anthropic realizes how disruptive these changes are to users. I appreciate the extension, but please stop playing games. Either keep it under the subscriptions or put it under the API already.

Prediction: Anthropic will remove Fable 5 from Claude subs after July 12th. It will seem like a terrible move, in light of how great GPT-5.6 is… Until Tuesday, July 14th. When they release Opus 5 and it’s more capable and token efficient than GPT-5.6 at the same price. It will be a distillation of the unfiltered Mythos. Rumors circulated last week that Anthropic has a new model ready. Must be Opus 5.

@Bhavani_00007 Honestly I can feel obvious lower intellegence in opus 4.8 while Fable 5 is in subscription, does that mean Anthropic is pulling compute from opus for fable? Would be nice to keep using Fable 5 in sub, but I guess we will see what happens in 24h.

@skidmorep try these, careful when upate your codex to 0.144.1, apparantly codex-home now uses sqlite instead of jsonl, so rolling back may cause your previous work to lose, according to Claude.

if trying to add GPT-5.6 broke your OpenClaw (even 5.5 won't work now?), here's what i had to fix. first, as i understand it, the current stable OpenClaw release (2026.6.11) doesn’t include GPT-5.6 support. so i upgraded to 2026.7.1-beta.2. the models (Sol, Terra, Luna) then appeared and could be configured, but didn't work, kept dumping to fallbacks, even GPT 5.5 was broken now. specifically, probing Sol failed with: “The ‘gpt-5.6-sol’ model requires a newer version of Codex.” which was confusing because i already had the current Codex CLI installed. to verify, in the macOS Terminal, i ran: codex --version command -v codex and it reported: codex-cli 0.144.1 /opt/homebrew/bin/codex so i did have the latest version of Codex, which meant the problem must be something else. eventually, using ChatGPT 5.6 in the web browser, we diagnosed the issue and created workaround. the workaround: CODEX_BIN="$(command -v codex)" openclaw config set plugins.entries.codex.config.appServer.command "$CODEX_BIN" openclaw gateway restart --wait 120s then probe again: openclaw models status --probe --probe-provider openai that changed the Sol probe from “requires a newer version of Codex” to OK. a full OpenClaw agent test confirmed: • model: gpt-5.6-sol • harness: codex • thinking: max • fallbackUsed: false Terra and Luna also worked once i added them to agents.defaults.models. there is already a canonical OpenClaw bug report for this: issue #103884. i added my reproduction, the CLI override workaround, and the successful end-to-end test results there in the comments rather than opening a duplicate. the source review on that issue points to a Codex app-server client-version metadata mismatch: OpenClaw appears to be identifying the runtime with its OpenClaw release version rather than the compatible Codex version. explicitly selecting the standalone Codex CLI bypassed the mismatch for me. there may be a much better way to solve this, or may have been user error in the first place, but this got it working again for me. hope this helps if others are having these issues. tagging @OpenClaw and @steipete in case others are hitting the same thing. fyi, i’m not a coder. i was able to assess and fix this with GPT-5.6 Sol in the ChatGPT web browser, then had it help me document the process.

@Olli0103 @OpenAI @openclaw @steipete I think I've go it working on my setup, but I am mainly using models via claude-cli, and claude said codex 0.144.1 now uses sqlite, reversing back to earlier version may lose your previous work, careful.

Is @OpenAI GPT5.6-sol working in anyones @openclaw? I have the option but if I choose it, the config is set to 5.5. Changing it manually to gpt-5.6-sol breaks the claw. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Did openclaw update without any change. @steipete
