I’ve seen a lot of people giving their “hot take” on this but I don’t think it’s that complicated: - Fans either cheering for you OR chirping at you is part of the gig when you’re signing up to be a professional athlete - As a fan, you can expect a player to occasionally chirp back if they hear you. - As the professional athlete, you need to be smart and realize you’re playing in front of a live audience and in today’s day and age, your reactions will be caught on camera. The fan said “you suck” and PCA went off the rails. Idk if he needs to be punished, but I do think he was being stupid 🤷‍♀️

Neither party has the moral high ground here, but Pete Crow-Armstrong is a professional athlete and (unfortunately) a role model to some, so he shouldn’t have said anything. The fact that he resorted straight to vulgar misogyny is pretty telling.

He’s on a trajectory to be one of the best defensive players of all time. He started the All Star Game in his first full season in the majors and won a Gold Glove. He was one of only 7 30/30 players in MLB. He is a slightly below-average hitter right now, but the narrative that he isn’t “good enough” is one of the funnier I’ve seen.
