The thing about OSS right now is that you can modify it. So if you're using applications for project mgmt, code check-in, etc, you can change them to meet the needs for you and your company. And the velocity at which you can do that right now is so so high.

Know what you want and why you're doing what you're doing. I would rather be: with my family, with my friends, cycling, swimming, or creating things... than almost everything else. The litmus test for everything else is, does it get me closer to these things?

TL;DR get a liberal arts degree and make technology on the side. That is how this moment is playing out. And then just have an obsessive bias toward action.

Basically, if you understand how computers foundationally work you're in the clear. And if you don't know what a CLI is or weren't trained from an early age to pre-progam in pseudocode (v important to computational literacy) you're on the losing side.

@LawrenceMuir1 We were parked in traffic yesterday for 5 hrs on I65 on the way back home. Ended up getting off to take detours, all of which were blocked by squad cars because residents didnt want thru traffic in their towns. Took us ~10 hours to get out of IN!
