Just released the new stable version of Tolaria. It fixes basically all bugs that have been reported!
For today and the weekend the focus will be on dark mode and windows support, plus merging some of the PRs (they are good!)
Also got up today to Tolaria on the front page of HN, double the Github stars, and just a ton of messages from everyone 🙏
Release page here for those interested: refactoringhq.github.io/tolaria/

@lucaronin Had a bug to fix, and adding one more feature (requested by fellow app user), to add directional arrows in the graph view
PS: Is it fine if it has other features too? I have added a few more like voice to text using local whispel model and quick note dialog.

English

@lucaronin I added the one feature i cannot live without. Thanks for building this app. I love it so much, im going to custimize the heck out of it to my taste and need.

Introducing Tolaria! 💧
Today I am releasing a macOS desktop app for managing markdown knowledge bases, and helping both AI and humans operate them.
It’s free and open source, and always will be.
I have been working on it for three months, and I now use it to run my life and work. I personally have a massive workspace of 10,000 notes — the result of 6 years of Refactoring — which I now operate on Tolaria.
Tolaria is the main collaboration surface with my AI agents: they create new notes there, connect them to what exists, and edit existing ones. Everything is easy to understand for them, because it’s just markdown files. In a way, it’s my implementation of @karpathy's LLM wiki.
Tolaria is also the biggest experiment I have ever run about writing software with AI:
• 2000 commits
• 100K+ lines of code
• 3000+ tests / 85% coverage
• 9.9/10 code health
• 70+ architecture decision records
I am releasing it open source also to use it as a living artifact of how I do AI coding, so you can inspect at any time things like how I write docs, what's in my AGENTS file, what hooks do I run, and so on. You can find it below:
• Newsletter announcement: refactoring.fm/p/introducing-…
• Website: tolaria.md
• Github repo: github.com/refactoringhq/…
Let me know your thoughts!

English

@thiagoghisi @lucaronin thanks. ooo thats a cool one i will add a setting for that so you can turn it on
English

@jaypatel1_ @lucaronin Very cool! Loved the colors by types, would be really cool to have directional arrows on this graph!
English

@jaypatel1_ this looks awesome! Would you submit a PR for this?

Day 4 of scaling to $1M a month in 30 days
Will probably do $15k today minimum
Using Claude code instead of shopify makes the ui superior, aov is over $120 some customers spending $170 with the cascading upsells.
Going to be launching a community on exactly how I’m doing this at the end of the 30 days
If you want to be on the wait list comment “million” for the super sauce

Built a tool so I'd stop losing action items after meetings
I'm terrible at follow-through after calls. Not because I forget - because by the time I'm done with back-to-back meetings, I've got 6 tabs open and a head full of "I'll write that up later."
So I built Speechy. You record the meeting, it pulls out the actual tasks - who owns what, by when. No transcript wall to dig through. It also has multi-speaker recognition and will tag the right person automatically in the transcript
The thing I'm most proud of: my co-founder stopped asking me "so what did you decide?" after every call.
Still early, but it's live. Would love any feedback from people who've felt this pain.

In Feb, I applied Alex Hormozi's lead magnet framework to LinkedIn.
In a few weeks, I went from:
- 1.5k -> 3.9k followers
- Booking 0-1 calls/mo -> 5-15/mo
- Getting ~1k -> ~15-30k impressions/mo
Before, I didn't realize how saturated the feed was with content.
Because nowadays...
LinkedIn is a WALL of "Comment X and I'll DM you" posts (and 'thought leadership' content in general).
Everyone has figured out that lead magnets are the method.
Yet, it's becoming harder and harder to stand out with it.
If you're posting "free PDFs" on LinkedIn and nobody is commenting for them, you already know what I'm talking about.
→ Your ICP used to comment on every giveaway post. Now they scroll past yours without blinking.
→ Your lead magnet sounds like the same "Ultimate Guide" as the 8 other people in your niche
→ You're giving away a google doc that took you 20 minutes to make and wondering why nobody cares
→ The leads that DO come in are garbage because your magnet attracted everyone instead of your actual buyer
Hormozi's framework is what separates the top performing lead magnets that go viral + book calls from the ones getting buried.
His data shows lead magnets beat direct offers on overall ROAS AND scale better.
But ONLY when yours has real value and real differentiation.
That said...
I just put his ENTIRE system into a free Notion kit.
Inside:
1) Hormozi's real ROAS data on lead magnets vs direct offers
2) The 3 Value Vectors: Speed, Risk, Ease (so your offer stops being interchangeable)
3) The Splinter Strategy: how to give away something that actually costs you to deliver
4) My naming formula for lead magnets that cut through a saturated feed
5) Plug-and-play giveaway post template
Want me to send it?
1. Comment "HORMOZI"
2. Follow @aidanb2b
And I'll DM it to you.
PS: Everyone's posting lead magnets now. The question is whether yours stands out or gets buried. This kit is how you make sure it stands out.
