@UKBackintheDay2 Fantastic song and Sam kicks the guts right out of it. Such a strong, clean voice. Her strongest ever song was “The great gig in the sky” on the Pink Floyd live album “Pulse” together with Durga McBroom and Claudia Fontaine. Saw her do this live. Incredible!

@JamesAHogg2 Brings back warm memories. Back home, after school with this on TV. The puppets like Merlin (in this example) with just the fluffy hair and a nose were genius. Also, loved the flea circus and other sketches with the appearing footprints. Bentine was a genius and so good for kids

I was watching a few episodes of Michael Bentine's Potty Time over the weekend, and my favourite was this one about King Arthur. It features a French knight riding a dog, a very Welsh wizard, simese twins with several screws loose, and a dragon that doesn't like rain. Good morning.

@Mike_Batt I have to confess that I don’t know the works of Walter Piston, but I did meet Leonard Bernstein and sit next to him for a whole evening. So, I think that for now that balances things out. [Exits in the direction of Apple Music murmuring “Walter Piston, Walter Piston…”]

I was just listening to Walter Piston’s 2nd symphony- and I thought, “hang on, there are quite a lot of shared qualities with Bartok’s Concerto For Orchestra here” . I looked them up- and found out they both happened in 1943 within months of each other. (Incidentally, Piston was a mentor/teacher of Leonard Bernstein, and wrote an excellent book on orchestration)

Paula White, Trump's spiritual adviser, is doing the X rounds today with her "strike, strike, strike !" video - (which I here👇(attempted to😀) translate into🇫🇷 (+ comments) in 2020 To be fair to Paula, it's 6yrs old, not about Iran, but yep - Paula's been a nutcase for years🤡

@EmilySm43 Not if you paid me and gave me all the free merchandise I could carry, a fresh glass of chilled champagne for each song, soft squishy cushions and noise-cancelling headphones for when it all becomes too much. If you paid me what she gets per gig, I’m there!!!

Should Sir Keir Starmer be praised for standing up to Donald Trump? The PM has stood by his decision not to involve Britain in strikes on Iran, but he's been branded "weak" by the Americans and opposition parties. Do you think he's stepped up to protect British interests?

The fourth movement of Symphony No. 5 by Gustav Mahler opens with the Adagietto, often considered his most famous music. Frequently performed on its own, it was notably conducted by Leonard Bernstein at Robert F. Kennedy’s funeral in 1968. Yet according to conductor Willem Mengelberg, Mahler intended it not as a lament, but as a love letter to Alma. The luminous movement features only strings and harp, creating an intimate, deeply expressive atmosphere.
