@valerie_za90398 @TA_ED50 I also find it unfair that acceptance is based on more on your racial background and wealth rather than academic achievement. This needs to change because many people of color are not given the same opportunity. #UCR50 @TA_ED50

Wealth and racial background hold a big role in determining your acceptance to elite colleges and Ivy Leagues, why does family income stand above test scores, AP classes, extracurricular’s completed by middle-low income students? #ucr50 @TA_ED50

The acceptance rate between white students and students of color is unfair. Many are accepted by wealth and not by accomplishment. There needs to be a growth in diversity in acceptance rate. #UCR50 @TA_ED50

@alpxrzj @abhornUCRedu I agree with you. Why can't their be a way for college athletes to make a profit? School makes millions out of them already. Many might argue that they do get rewards by grants and scholarships but it should not count as a rewards for college athletes. #UCR50 @TA_ED50

Many College student athlete are not paid what they deserve. They work so hard, dedicate so much time, and be pressured to be the best. The NCAA loves to make money out of their name, but not reward what is fair to college athletes. #UCR50 @TA_ED50

@FaustinoMariela @abhornUCRedu It's crazy to think that women were given the basic resources when title IX passed. Men got even more resources and support. It was just a Band-Aid that they gave instead of actually solving the issue. Like you said, how women got a lower % budget as for men. #UCR50 @TA_ED50

@abhornUCRedu in 1977 woman's division A sports accounted for 14% of the college athletic budget while 86% of expenditures were towards men's sport. The interesting part was that this was seemed as fair, but in reality it was a form of gender discrimination. #UCR50horn #UCR50

It's crazy to think that Title IX took 20 years to be established. To allow and give an opportunity for women to participate in sport. For sex discrimination no longer exist, however it is still seen in todays society. #UCR50 @TA_ED50

Diversity on intercollegiate teams in college positively effect the environment of the school and spirit of the team. There is a connection between how students are able to preform when representation is on the court. @abhornUCRedu #UCR50

We see how diversity still needs to be discussed and set correctly in todays society. How can the school plan an effect way to show diversity correctly amongst the student athletes? #UCR50 @TA_ED50

@UCErik050 @abhornUCRedu As a non-athlete student, I believe athlete students get more benefits than regular students. They get help more financially such as receiving higher grants. They also have access to more resources at campus, than a regular student. #UCR50 @TA_ED50

College athletics often suffer with health issues such as their self-worth which is tied with their athletic ability. On top of that, they gain stress of not being good enough, which leads many to the use of drugs. #UCR50 @TA_ED50

@SamRitchieee @abhornUCRedu Honestly being an athlete is like working a full time job. On top of that, student athletes also spend hours in academics task. Schools need to help athletes how to balance academics and athletics. #UCR50 @TA_ED50

I was surprised to read that on average, Div. 1 athletes spend more than 40 hours per week on sport-related activities (Wolverton, 2008). Due to time constraint, are the academic expectations placed on regular students fair on student athletes? #UCR50 @abhornUCRedu

As a high school student athlete, balancing academics and athletic tasks is overwhelming. They are pressured to exceed in both. Many graduate and go off to college unprepared with what to expect. Schools need to create a way to prepare athletes. #ucr50 nd @TA_ED50

@Daniella0116 @abhornUCRedu I agree with you. It's sad to think how the one who does the most , which are the athletes get the least benefits. They are pressured to make the sport their life. Sometimes all the hard work they put into the sport does not guarantee a future. @TA_ED50

Athletic departments are treated as independent entities by colleges and no restrictions on spending are in place. An example is where programs and college sports leadership ends up spending all that is available. #ucr50 @TA_ED50

@ninatraaann @abhornUCRedu I agree with you. Mental health isn’t considered important to schools and coaches. They just have one goal for athletes, which is to win games. Athletics suffer through anxiety and stress just to win a game. @TA_ED50 #UCR50

Academic Integrity raised up when athletes did not meet minimum academic requirements. Many athletes were enrolled in classes with athletics friendly instructors and were set in majors that had less academic demand. @TA_ED50 #UCR50
