CaptionPop is a better way for language learners to experience YouTube. I made a quick tutorial video to show the basic features. youtube.com/watch?v=_ygaIO…

@FFmpeg I've done a bit of hacking on the ffmpeg source, but it's difficult to get noticed on the ffmpeg-devel mailing list, even for small bug fixes. I wish there was a better PR-like system for submitting patches and getting feedback.

@thdxr I think it's because SQL isn't stateless. There are things like session variables and transactions that need to be attached to something, so a TCP socket is a natural choice.

also i don't understand why connections even need to represent a unit of concurrency a single connection with a multiplexed protocol should be able to saturate - makes drivers a bit more complicated but i'm assuming modern DBs do this?

@thdxr @bronifty I've found it's better to avoid asyncIterators for ws just use the node streams directly. Here is a implementation I wrote for elevanlabs ws api that properly handles backpressure: #issuecomment-2121230104" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">github.com/elevenlabs/ele…

@thdxr @bronifty The Problem with using ws as an asyncIterator is the framing gets broken, and you'll receive multiple frames in one read. This is at least true of the ws module. The problem seems to be in stream.Readable, so maybe this applies to the native impl as well.github.com/websockets/ws/…

here’s another one: node 21 has browser ws client api say you are consuming messages on the server from a websocket source (stock price data) sometimes your processing, messages handled, is slower than messages received what happens to your server? how do you deal with it?

@karpathy 안녕하세요! I see you're learning Korean. I run a language learning startup (@hilokal) based in Seoul that makes heavy use of technologies like LLMs, TTS, and STT. We're big fans of your videos. If you are ever in Seoul, we'd love to host you.

@chrysb I've been using react-native heavily for the past 3 years. I would probably choose to work with it again, although I get frustrated by the usual react things (useEffect, etc). Also you have to be much more conscious of the performance of your Javascript than you do with the web.

Love this team and what they are building. LLMs will be part of almost every stack, but like most new tech - tools for management and operations lag sorely behind the shiny bits. @ericwryan and @cairns have the dev platform expertise to make a real impact here.

@dmierau I saw one at the alameda flea market last year for a few hundred dollars. I seriously contemplated getting it but decided to play with an emulator at home to get it out of my system. Still kinda regret it.

Excited to share the news about our 3rd Sisu fund! We’ve been super quiet historically, even though we've built the largest portfolio of game startups in venture capital. :) If you're building a company with global ambitions, we'd love to talk! techcrunch.com/2021/10/19/sec…

@mjackson So true. I stumbled across this Apple IIc this weekend at the Alameda flea market. Boots directly into Applesoft BASIC. I didn't buy it, but went home and played with a simulator for a bit. Brought back a lot of childhood memories.
