The NI civil service is going backwards, costing vastly more and employing more staff while outcomes get worse, a devastating audit report reveals. After RHI, Jayne Brady was appointed to reform & costs £290,000 a year - but a key failure is leadership. belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/politics/…

@Harry62985792 @larnefc The council own the pitch it’s up to them to make sure pitch is playable. No different to the time inver park was closed in 2017 due to lack of safety certificate as ground needed remedial work that council didn’t do.

@larnefc Ballymena throwing big money on players but doing nothing about their pitch. IFA too spineless to do anything about it.

@naomi_long None of you have delivered anything of any substance or of any real benefit to the public. Just look at public services for heavens sake, they are in the gutter in crisis. Plenty of daft motions that never come to anything. Do better

The Assembly Chamber should be a debating chamber, not a baiting chamber. Our role as politicians is to represent the people of Northern Ireland and to deliver real positive change, rather than engage in meaningless knockabout politics.

@naomi_long The GFA which led to power sharing belongs to us all. Only the public can decide if it’s to be reformed. Who would trust the people that are running the country into the ground to do anything right?

As leader of the Alliance Party, I have written to the SoS outlining the case for urgent reform of Stormont’s power-sharing institutions in the wake of the Covid Inquiry findings. “The institutions must be reformed to stop any single party from paralysing decision-making.”

@GerryCarrollPBP It’s not like schools have just gotten damp under the current minister. They’ve been damp since you lot started running the show. Well when I say running the show I mean making the place worse. None of you are worth a toss.

Drains are owned and maintained by Stormont, where MLAs this week are totally concerned with matters within their remit… like visiting schools in the territories of Palestine currently illegally occupied by Israel…

Back to back meetings with constituents today and I have to say there is a real sense of hopelessness from people in NI right now. They can’t afford childcare, can’t get support for their SEN children, sofa surfing and can’t find a home. People working every hour God sends and still can’t afford to live. I could go on and on. No wonder we have a mental health crisis here. Our basic services are not accessible and not fit for purpose.. Nothing is working here.

@BeattieDoug @dhoneyford Dear god have you ever seen anything so pathetic as what we have for elected reps in this country. You all spend far too much time on social media behaving like 13 year old school girls. Get a grip the lot of you. The majority of us have had enough.

Doug keeps talking about us so much we might have to start paying him! 😂 I’ll stick to working on the common-sense stuff, making things better, building a shared place free from all the old constitutional baggage. But cheers for the advice though! Enjoy your break!

A 5-year low why? ❌They crumble under scrutiny ❌They continually sneer at others ❌They refuse to protect womens space, sport & rights ❌They would not support the term innocent victim ❌They destroyed our CJS putting perpetrators before victims ❌They have no long term vision

@naomi_long Do you know what won’t sort it? A big billboard in every time. Words are cheap!!! I’m surprised it’s actually only 1 in 8 given the state of the drug problem and addiction in the country and the lenient sentences drug dealers are getting.

1 in 8 people in Northern Ireland have faced drug-related intimidation. That's your neighbours, friends, maybe even your family. To end it, we need tough law enforcement, not paramilitary talking shops and all Executive Departments working together.

The Misuse of Drugs Act locks NI into a criminal justice approach to drugs completely limiting any ability to move to a health led approach. Nothing will change if we are ultimately continuing to do the same thing.
