On this day in 1963, Dennis Walker became the first black player to play for @ManUtd when he made his debut at Nottingham Forest. Walker added 'Manchester hero' to his list of notable achievements in 1996 when he helped evacuate the Arndale when it was bombed. He was working as part of the security of the centre and his efforts that went a long way to miraculously ensuring nobody was killed. When the bomb exploded, Dennis, who had just left the centre, was thrown across the street by the force. He survived. Another remarkable element to the life story of Dennis Walker.
