@paulbristow79 I’d genuinely like to understand how the draft Gtr Cambridge Local Plan fits into this.

Have I missed discussion of this paper sciencedirect.com/science/articl…? "Daily average car journey time has increased by a striking 12.0 % ... controlling for hour, day, month, school and university term, bank holidays, major public events, roadworks, traffic accidents & weather"

We have Solicitors, barrister, and consultants appointed for the public inquiry due to be held this winter for the alternative route that provides greater transport benefits, is £100m cheaper and doesn’t trash our countryside! For more information visit bw4b.org

English

@Sam_in_Cam @CambridgeIndy @Cambslive @CambsCC I can only assume that the GCP needs more congestion data to present at the Coton and CSET busway inquiries…
English

@CambridgeIndy @Cambslive Surely there's a public interest angle to this which deserves follow-up? Have the @CambsCC Streetworks team been told to relax their criteria for approving simultaneous adjacent works?
Jonathan Gimblett@jonathan_gblt
So it looks like significant roadworks are also about to start on Trumpington St shortly and occur throughout July. @alexbeckett @CambsCC why are your highway teams allowing these plus Hills Rd and Long Rd works all to occur at the same time?
English

@RedSpudd Thnx for this. Have used WT website a lot to learn about species but somehow missed their one-stop guide. Useful bedtime reading! It’s the exposure I struggle with most - 40mph winds are routine and compound the effects of temperature extremes. But I’m not giving up!
English

@jcoeflynn The crab apple we planted was suffering badly but a lot has picked back up with watering, hawthorn doing ok but probably 5% failed. Have you read the WT species guide? That rates drought tolerance woodlandtrust.org.uk/publications/2…
English

"Final" tally stands at 286 saplings showing no signs of life, so 23.8% of what we planted. Beyond that there are c. 50-60 looking "crispy" so it's not clear if they will survive, but we will keep watering them. Permitted losses after 5 years under the WT grant are 20%.

Spudd Redman@RedSpudd
Tagging the dead trees so we don't include them in the watering. We used c. 100 tags on the high canopy line where there are 25 blocks of 16, so c.25% losses so far.
English

@RedSpudd Thnx! I’m in Cambs, v v exposed site, former arable land. Also finding that Hornbeam is particularly resilient, as is hawthorn and malus. Birch struggling with hot dry winds.
English

@jcoeflynn Hornbeam, Field Maple, Rowan and Spindle have the fewest losses at the moment Last year Field Maple struggled in the wet and we lost quite a lot, but again Hornbeam did OK.
English

@RedSpudd As someone who’s planted a lot of trees recently and plans to plant more, I’d be v keen to know which species are currently proving more drought resistant. Thnx.
English

@brian_bilston We came to the show and had a great time, with mouths full of Maltesers we laughed at ur rhymes.

@MagogDown Can you post this on Great Shelford and Stapleford Community FB page as well pls (multiple times before the 7th)? Residents will trust and respond to your advice. Thnx.
English

Deadline March 7 2025 to object to #CSET the 5 mile busway across green fields in Stapleford&Great Shelford, running adjacent to @MagogDown
& dissecting our new #ChalkHillDown
Destroying visual landscape, threatening our creatures & making area vulnerable to development 1/2
English

@Sam_in_Cam Well, that's marketing for you. I guess 'The Cambridgeshire - floaters and cow urine. Inspired by Weil's disease from the contaminated River Cam' was never going to shift products.
English

@Browne_Anthony_ I think u can use the X-wing method on some of the potential 4s. I tried this but then I think eliminated the wrong one. And now I’m too tired to try again! Good luck!
English

@MagogDown Although, unless they’ve been removed since 9am this morning, there are still 2 big red ROAD CLOSED signs on Haverhill Rd! Glad we can again visit Magog Down more easily.
English

Haverhill Road appears to be fully open...hoorah! Look forward to visitor numbers to @MagogDown increasing and returning to normal levels!
English

@Sam_in_Cam @SmarterCam Yet still they plough on and on and p*** away £ that could’ve been better invested in light rail. There’s more holes in the GCP’s busway plans than in my gardening clothes.
English

Never mind all the other problems with the scheme, just this element alone should be enough to stop the project. There's no way this degree of conflict between transport modes in such a constrained space should be tolerated

English

@Sam_in_Cam When it is over, because sadly one day it will be, you may look back and find that caring for that person was the privilege of a lifetime. Right now, it may feel anything but. I wish you strength.
English

@jcoeflynn I am on the same learning curve, it really hit home ...
