When the farmer’s kids inherit said food-producing asset, they will be forced to sell it, or part of it, to pay the taxes levied on it, so it becomes an ever-diminishing food-producing asset. British farms then begin to disappear.

@morefunmakingit That's great news, it is rather shameful that YT treats people this way in the first place however. These sorts of decisions should always have a human in the loop, and the channel owner should always be able to question the decision, without its just a cruel process.

@m1keypies @MimiJ9 @NonsenseBlaster There is plenty real farms can do so they never pay IHT, for those buying farms as a IHT avoidance vehicle it will be much harder to avoid. If people stop buying farming land as a tax avoided method, we might even see the price of farming land drop.

@m1keypies @MimiJ9 @NonsenseBlaster It's 1m per person addition to the nil rated 1m. So if a couple inherit the farm its 3m, with 10 years to pay off any IHT due on anything above the 3m, with no interest on that payment. Real farms would also be able to restructure as a company to avoid any IHT.

@LockFarm I think there is probably a limit to how well it can work if one candidate refuses to conceded, however the quicker they get to a settled legal result the better.

@LockFarm @TC_1963 @AndyatAuto @SMMT Given most new car sales where done on a finance agreement I suppose its not that surprising interest rates have had a big impact on sales. I'm not that surprised most fleet sales moving to electric, given your allowed to write all of it off in year 1, vs the regular period.

The @SMMT stats for October now in. 44% of the U.K. market is now electrified with 21% being BEV. Diesel is now almost non-existent. The ZEV mandate for 2022 will be comfortably met although heavy discounting is required. This is good for the consumer and will force manufacturers who were slow to invest in EV, to drive down their costs. That’s Darwinism at its most brutal and efficient.

@LockFarm It been interesting to see how the legal system has geared up for challenging of counts etc, streamlining the process and shortening of time frames. To try and get everything settled in weeks rather than months.

@LockFarm @CraigRussell80 There are some "farms" would be significantly impacted, that seam to just be IHT avoidance vehicles. It looks like the threashold as been calibrated reasonably well. Real farms can also look a become limited companies with a transfer of shares over time.

@LockFarm @CraigRussell80 Farming certainly has big problems, if I had to pick one our post brexit trading arrangement would be the one. Based on the only level headed analysis I've seen only 1/4 of farms would be impacted by the IHT change, out of them most would have less than 20k to pay over 10 years.

@LockFarm @CraigRussell80 overacting to the IHT changes on farming, and the situation with IHT is still much more generous for farmers than before the mid 80s. I think alot of the out cry is driven by political motivation, and those none farms trying to avoid IHT.
