The man seems determined to stay, though it's clear he can't credibly lead the long-overdue change. No question he's an astute politician and an able self-publicist. These are useful attributes, but not the priority for leading the Church today.

The Archbishop of York has blamed employment law for issues surfaced by @BBCfileon4. He's claiming plausible deniability. An honorary canon (and serial bully) I experienced was protected and enabled by his oversight of Chelmsford Diocese. Denial, yes. Plausible, no way.

I'm grateful for Justin Welby's belated recognition of his culpability and that of the hierarchy of the Church of England. My experience of the present Archbishop of York, when I overlapped with his time in Chelmsford, gives me no hope for reform from within. Change must come.

@petersuhm Is that even a thing nowadays? I feel like the tectonic plates have shifted on the globe of business information and processing. CRM was revolutionary dumbware, pulling info from clever but isolated systems into one place. Now everything clever integrates, so who needs more dumb?
