@probnstat 100%, assign each prisoner to a “bit” and each bottle of wine its own unique binary encoding (eg wine bottle 0 = 0000000000) with 10 prisoners you can comfortably test up to 2^10 bottles of wine =1024 <1000 bottles.

PROBLEM: There are 1000 bottles of wine, and one is poisoned, chosen uniformly at random. You have 10 prisoners, and you can use them in any way you like to determine which bottle is poisoned. Each prisoner can be given a mixture of wine samples. The poison kills exactly 24 hours after ingestion. Each prisoner either dies (1) or survives (0) after 24 hours — a binary signal. You are allowed only one round of testing and can observe the results once after 24 hours. You design a strategy and carry it out. After 24 hours, you observe a particular pattern of which prisoners are alive or dead — for example, prisoners 2, 5, and 7 died, and the rest lived. What is the probability that you can uniquely identify the poisoned bottle based on the pattern of prisoner deaths?

This speech is full of half-truths, distortions, misleading claims and outright lies. Basically living up to every meme, trope and unfair stereotype, of Americans being ignorant morons. I'll go through each of the claims he made in this segment and what the actual facts are. /1

Uploading some videos from Polaris Dawn. This first one shows a view over the Middle East through both of Dragon’s side windows, along w/ some ominous-sounding words from the flight surgeon as @annawmenon & @KiddPoteet snake an endoscope up their noses in the name of science.

Hey everyone! I Just wanted to share that since the beginning of September I started as Maître de Conférences (somewhat like associate professor) here in Toulouse, France. I'm going to give class on Computer Science and research, mainly evolutionary computation 😄😄

All I see in my timeline is ridiculous ads, and tech bros with blue ticks. I don't even see the tweets from actual accounts that I follow, (and probably they don't see mine). So where do we move? This is not sustainable 😞

Yesterday, we covered machine translation as an example of sequence-to-sequence modelling. At some point, students started taking a lot of pictures 😅😅😅 I felt like a celebrity 😁😁😁

@marcus_marcusg @tomgoldsteincs Similar but not the same. When a model is saturated, it means it cannot learn more, because of its own limitations. When a model converges, it can be because of saturation, or because the training data is not good enough, or because the training is already perfect...

The most intriguing line of the llama2 paper: "...the models still did not show any signs of saturation".
