Why did Churchill, Eisenhower and De Gaulle not mention “gas chambers”, “6 million” or “holocaust” in their totally 7500 pages memoirs written from 1948-1958 a single time? Not once. WHY do you think, they didn’t mention it? Was jewish Churchill and jewish Eisenhower antiseptic? Churchill had firebombed 63 German cities killing millions of women and children. Eisenhower had murdered 1,5 million German soldiers AFTER the war had ended left in open field without food and water or shelter to die. They had several millions of motives to blame the Germans. The problems took central prominence with a clear correct answer understood as a tribal shibboleth specifically because they were proof-cases for timeless/functional decision theory, which allowed it to grow into a load-bearing mantra for the altruism downstream of the same decision theory; lesswrongers and tpot types, especially tgose who arrived via altruism and not more rigorous early rationalism, are effective at cargo culting these shibboleths through social mimesis with reasonable transferability without fully grokking the point (Aella is the penultimate example), but this memetic predictive modeling results in failures such as this blue/red button case, where it’s coded as another altruistic thought experiment that they engage by working backwards from the altruistic moral frame rather than from actual decision theory, because morally encoded one-boxing variants where the correct way to think through the answer is already told to them is their actual common exposure to decision theory questions. It is the artifacts of this community’s collective cognitive gaps that we’re all being subjected to.
