@CalgaryRecall ok. I know its there and I can't find it. I found proposed changes to R-CG which I thought were future changes for any R-CG lot if it was so designated, but I can't find the corner+3. So if I can't find it now how could residents be aware enough to comment for the hearing?

BLANKET UPZONING DOES NOT GUARANTEE DELIVERY OF AFFORDABILITY: "In a financialized housing market, modest homes on upzoned lots are treated mainly as redevelopment sites. They are demolished and replaced with premium units that must command high prices to cover inflated land costs. That does not preserve what little modest housing stock remains; it accelerates its disappearance." #yyc #yyccc livewirecalgary.com/2026/03/18/per…

Talked about Blanket Rezoning with two of my Favorite MP’s @JohnBarlowMP and @MelissaLantsman this weekend. Federal Conservatives believe in Rewarding and Incentivizing Cities to build more homes thoughtfully, not demanding that multi-plex developments be built Anywhere.

I’m concerned that Calgary’s public submission process on blanket rezoning repeal has confused residents and led to misinterpreted feedback. After personally reviewing all submissions, I found strong support for repeal and am calling for clearer engagement to ensure residents’ voices are accurately heard. See full release attached. #yyccc

@beltline_pres @jeff_marsh Some one should have been fired over this That Duckworth didn’t “fall on his sword” 2 summers ago is beyond comprehension AND That is didn’t is exactly why Nenshi wears it No one has taken ownership for of the failure of keeping our infrastucture in good order.

I thought Blanket Rezoning was about making Homes more Affordable? This “Advocate” admits it’s really about Collecting more Property Taxes. Personally, I don’t think the City should be able to Fundamentally change entire Established Communities just to boost their bottom line.

. . Calgarians are compliant with water restrictions because we are generally cooperative. Regardless, it is hard to be confident when City Council will hold no one in Administration -- especially 'city manager' David Duckworth' -- accountable for this uprecedented bollix. Calgary is one of twenty-five North American cities with populations over one million. Nothing on the scale of Calgary's feeder main break has ever, nor very likely will ever, happen in any other of those cities. It is fair to say that Calgary is the worst managed big city on the continent. Our councillors truly ought to 'get off their high horses' and make some changes at city hall. If Council won't, maybe the Province should step in. #yyccc @JeromyYYC @kim_tyers @jenniferwyness @yuleloveyyc @djkelly @rajdhaliwal_yyc @john4ward6 @DanWilliamsAB @nate_for_8 @chabot4ward10 @RobWardCGY @DanWMcLean @landonforward14 @DanWilliamsAB @ABDanielleSmith calgaryherald.com/news/local-new…

This fun interactive tool allows you to draw circles anywhere in the world to see how many people are around you. A 3km circle around my home in Melbourne shows that I have almost 84,000 people nearby I can annoy in person with my maps! Play with the tool here: tomforth.co.uk/circlepopulati…

Many candidates/members of council in 2025 ran on repealing blanket rezoning. It is important we learn from the past and not rush seconds after the repeal into a soft "blanket rezoning". Here is the proposed change: This was a motion brought forward by @JenniferWyness and seconded by @chabot4ward10 to make changes to RC-G. The vote will be for a full repeal and these changes. The following Council Members voted in favour of this amendment. For: (10): Councillor Yule, Councillor Pantazopoulos, Councillor Clark, Councillor Dhaliwal, Councillor Atkinson, Councillor Kelly, Councillor Chabot, Councillor Schmidt, Councillor Wyness, and Mayor Farkas And against: (5): Councillor Ward, Councillor Jamieson, Councillor Tyers, Councillor Johnston, and Councillor McLean-

Seroiusly? What incredibly shoddy reporting by @MasonDePatie. "just off Macleod Trail" - it's more than 25 km long and no cross street provided! Last line of the article contains the business name so you can look it up but cmon. AI could have done way better!

Calgary has 120 electric buses on order. After federal grants to help upgrade facilities, taxpayers are footing the cost, totalling $443 million. Each bus will have roughly $800,000 in lifetime maintenance. Was this the right choice for Calgary? Yes, we need buses, but would natural gas or diesel have been a better, more affordable option?
Just Bins@JustBins

Regina transit initiated an evacuation and emergency shut down of a $1.8M electric bus after it started smoking.

@Landonforward14 @JenniferWyness Could someone please explain how these changes to R-CG re-implement soft blanket rezoning if adopted in conjunction with the repeal? If adopted in lieu of a repeal yes I understand but not if both are approved by council....
