@captlibertas @RepAOC Does calling her sweetheart make you more of a man?

Absolutely devastating news. My heart is broken for her family. Let us keep her loved ones in our thoughts and continue to pray for Staff Sgt. Wolfe.

@MilaLovesJoe I did vote for this. Not sorry. The law is the law. There’s no grey area.

@Cali_Refugees Finally - since being named the Teacher of the Year for TX, I have fought to eliminate STAAR, reduce testing in schools, give better opportunities for hands on learning - I mention it because it is the ball and chain that shackles public schools.
English

Suggesting school choice shouldn't be passed until private schools, including homeschool (a subset of private schools in TX law) conforms & looks just like public schooling means you fundamentally don't understand school choice at all. That you would even reference STAAR as if it's a contributing factor to a successful K-12 education demonstrates that you don't understand why so many parents find public school alternatives preferable & better than public schooling.
English

It's about time existing K-12 tax dollars support the student themselves instead of going exclusively to public school! The wealthy shouldn't be the only ones with the ability to choose a K-12 education that is best for their kids.
If budget impact is a concern, start by making voucher eligibility means tested to 125% of medium household income. While all parents deserve the tax dollars intended for their kids actually benefit them, an incremental approach is better than continuing to deny the kids most in need with options.
Get 'er done @TexasGOP / #texleg!

Election results across The Lone Star State show Governor Greg Abbott will now have enough votes in the Texas House to put one of his top priorities into law -- a school voucher program. kens5.com/article/news/e…

@Cali_Refugees I am an educator, for nearly 20 years. I am happy to support school choice when the choice is equal and we fund public education where it needs to be. I have met with legislators, school officials, parents. I know education - so let’s make it good for ALL students.
English

@Cali_Refugees But wait! You say homeschool - that may be an option for wealthier people that have at least one parent at home. But middle to lower class families typically have all the parents working to simply make ends meet and cover the bills.
English

@Cali_Refugees So now who does that really benefit - I know! The wealthy people who already have their kids in private school. The people that donate to Abotts election funds. He doesn’t care about kids, he cares about votes and the wealthy people supporting him.
English

@Cali_Refugees Consider this: adding vouchers will not build new private schools or expand current ones and those are full (at least in San Antonio) If I am lower class and want to use my voucher, where do I go? They can only accommodate to many.
English

@Cali_Refugees Actually, my point is quite the opposite.
Take away the barriers that prohibit public schools from performing at the same level as private, and then let parents make the choice.
