On my lapel I wear a pin depicting a canary in a birdcage, given to me decades ago by a steelworker at a Workers’ Memorial Day rally in Lorain. At the turn of the last century, coal miners took the canary down into the mines with them to warn them of poisonous gasses, because in those days, they didn’t have a union strong enough or a government that cared enough to look out for them. When I first came to the Senate, I wore the official Senate pin for a couple of days, but it didn’t feel right. So I took it off and I put my canary pin back on. I’ve worn it every day since, and I’m not taking it off. I will always believe that when you love this country, you fight for the people who make it work. I will never give up that fight.

@DavidShuster When Trump called the VP a communist and a fascist in the same sentence (and then his supporters parroted that), I knew that none of them have a clue what they’re talking about.

I asked about his definition of “communists” and he changed the subject. So he either doesn’t what communism is, or he does know and doesn’t have a clue about democrats except what he hears from GOP/conservative media.

Just had a conversation with a Trump voter. I agreed with his insistence that he and many other MAGA are not fascists, racists, bigots, misogynists, or stupid. But when I asked about his objection to democrats he said they are “communists.” Man this is tough.

I'm absolutely sickened by the idea that Donald Trump wants to put RFK Jr. in charge of women's health. His ex-wife, Mary Richardson Kennedy, committed suicide after RFK Jr. cut off her "credit card, court-approved for $20,000 a month in living expenses. She was no longer welcome at the Kennedy compound. Her checking account had a zero balance. She was reduced to asking other moms at the school run if they had an extra $20 so she could get gas and groceries. The whole town knew she was broke." They separated because she had found his diary giving a graphic recounting of all of the affairs he was having. I'm voting against Donald Trump and that entire trainwreck waiting to happen in her honor.
