I absolutely hate having to write this. Our friend @MrBluesHat (formerly Hitch’s Hat) passed away last night after a long fight with glioblastoma. If you were around #STLBlues or #HockeyTwitter for any length of time, you probably crossed paths with him. Elite sarcasm. One of the founders of #Shots4Goals. Professional ball buster. Passionate fan. One of the regulars who made this community feel like more than just people yelling about hockey online. The disease took a lot from him physically, but it never took his wit, his fight, or his love for his family and the Blues. He beat the odds for a long time, because stubbornness might’ve actually been one of his superpowers. The rink, the X timeline, and this fanbase are all going to feel a little quieter now. Stick taps for Mr. Blues Hat, and much love to @missus_hat

@BruinJustine @politicalmath For a routine visit that makes no sense. I don’t know anyone who would do that unless there are serious red flags present during the encounter (eg bruising, signs of physical abuse, etc). And even then, you’re bringing in other providers so you’re not alone with the child

@jennybloozer @politicalmath What’s your thoughts on a provider asking a parent to step out of the room for an examination of a toddler?

If a medical professional asks you to step out of the room while they privately talk to your child, ask them for their home address and personal phone number It's the reddest flag if they are unwilling to give you that information

@politicalmath A good provider also knows how to guide the conversation based off answers and perceived maturity. It’s not all “hey who you sleeping with???” Despite what some of these responses seem to believe.

@politicalmath As a provider I have to very respectfully disagree. These conversations are w/ teens, incredibly brief, usually with the parents just outside the room. And help to ensure there is no health-threatening issues (risk of STD, suicidal thoughts, etc) going on that the patient
