@elonmusk @boringcompany In the meantime, you can take a TGV from Paris to Marseilles since 2001 for a 3 hours 5 minutes trip that is 100 miles longer than SF-LA...

I would love to see the crash test results but they “self certified” and have an exemption. Gad Zooxs, I’ll pass. “In July 2022, Zoox self-certified compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS), which include crash testing requirements, though this was later scrutinized by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Following an investigation into two minor rear-end collisions in 2024 (where motorcyclists hit Zoox vehicles that braked unexpectedly), NHTSA granted Zoox an exemption in August 2025 under the Automated Vehicle Exemption Program (AVEP). This exemption allows operation without traditional controls while requiring safety data, including crash test outcomes,”

Brand new Robotaxi in Las Vegas called ZOOX. This thing is unbelievable and 50000% better than Lyft/uber. Can’t wait to try it again this weekend @zoox @LasVegasLocally

😂😂😂. Ride at your own risk. Here is @grok comments The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has not conducted standard crash tests on the Zoox robotaxi because it lacks traditional safety features such as a steering wheel, brake pedal, and rearview mirrors, which are typically evaluated in such tests. However, NHTSA has identified "apparent noncompliances" with eight federal safety standards due to these missing components. Despite this, Zoox asserts that its vehicle, backed by artificial intelligence, complies with safety standards through its autonomous technology. The company could potentially seek an exemption from these rules, but NHTSA has never granted such an exemption to an autonomous passenger vehicle. This situation raises questions about the regulatory framework for autonomous vehicles and their safety compared to traditional vehicles.

Exciting day as @zoox robotaxis become available to riders in Las Vegas. Yes, it’s an autonomous vehicle, but what’s unique is instead of just getting from A to B, you'll actually enjoy the experience itself. With carriage-style seating, it's a beautiful, comfortable space where you can relax with friends, listen to your favorite music, and just enjoy being together. Download the app to ride on and around the Strip. Look forward to customers checking it out.

@SawyerMerritt @zoox Something worth mentioning is how safe this design is.. I imagine it wouldn’t be all too safe. Tesla vehicles have safety as a top priority.

I just rode in a @zoox robotaxi, which is owned by Amazon. It was a 7.6-mile, 25-minute loop along the Las Vegas Strip and back. Some background: Zoox uses cameras, lidars, radar, and long-wave infrared sensors. Their test vehicles build 3D maps of the city. The vehicle has four-wheel steering and has no front or back, so it can go in any direction. Overall, it was a pretty good experience. I’d like to see seat comfort improve as they were too firm and ergonomics weren't great, although I know this is just a test vehicle. There was an interesting interaction with a semi truck on the side of the road, but the rest of the ride went well. Both the adaptive suspension and quietness level in the robotaxi were good. Below is a video of my experience. (Not sponsored)

I got to ride the Zoox Robotaxi today. It is pretty amazing and I can see these being very popular in the future. You can ride it too over at Resorts World Las Vegas where you catch the rideshares on the way to self parking. There are two routes and I got to do both. One route goes around the Resorts World property and the other heads down near Luxor and Excalibur and back. The rides are complimentary for now.

Anyone ride in the new Zoox robotaxi yet? I have seen them on the Strip with no riders.

Riding @Zoox on the Vegas Strip at night is game changing. Fully autonomous, no steering wheel, seamless and elegant – seeing it in action never gets old. Public rides are coming this year. Big thanks to Jesse Levinson for the ride!
