NEW: The Treasury Department is preparing to release a corporate tax workaround that would deliver big tax savings to companies including Salesforce and Qualcomm. The change would let companies deduct old R&D investments without triggering the 15% corporate minimum tax.

For the record: instead of paying Edwin Diaz $23 million per year, the Mets are going to pay Jorge Polanco $20 million per year.
SNY Mets@SNY_Mets

Per @WillSammon, the Mets and Jorge Polanco are in agreement on a contract. @JeffPassan reports that the deal is for two years and $40 million. Polanco, 32, hit .265 with 26 home runs for the Mariners last season.

The admin is quietly rewriting the tax code—giving billions in breaks to private equity, crypto, insurance, and energy firms by hollowing out the 15% corporate minimum tax. More tax cuts for the rich is the last thing working families need. @JesseDrucker nytimes.com/2025/11/08/bus…

Lead can be recycled cleanly, but automakers like Ford and GM source batteries made by companies that use lead from unsafe factories overseas. Our investigation with @nytimes shows how car battery recycling is poisoning a community in Nigeria. bit.ly/4oDRtBW

4/ We've been working on this investigation for a year with an extraordinary reporting partner, @WillFitzgibbon at @examinationnews. Between us, we took several trips to Nigeria, and unraveled the supply chain in the US -- from the Baltimore, to an auto battery factory in Penn

The auto industry will tell you the lead battery is the ultimate example of successful recycling. Here is the part they would prefer you not see -- lead poisoning in villages around the globe to make car batteries in the US and other rich countries. Our investigation. Link below

In my 2020 book Evil Geniuses I explain how big business and the rich since 1980 have used complex, obscure tax and other systemic changes to keep making only the rich richer and our economy more and more unfair and unaffordable to most Americans. They’ve just done it again.
