This is something… The top 2011-born WHL Prospects will be headed to the Western Conference come draft day. West teams own the 1st eight picks. Regina will draft ninth to break up the run. The WHL Draft lottery will set the order this week.

@TJZielman61 @RyanNPike They were already losing talent to the ncaa, and most 1st rounders are too good for CHL at 19 anyways. Even then, teams could still send them back to the CHL if they wish, if for example their team is a superpower going all in for a championship.

Per Friedman, new AHL/CHL development rule looks to be 19-year-olds who were drafted out of the CHL in the first round can play in the AHL starting next season.

Blazers playoff opponent is either PG or Kelowna. PG has secured 3rd, Kelowna 4th. Blazers 1pt up on Spokane for 5th. Blazers play final game in Vancouver tonight. Spokane hosts TC tonight, then hosts Seattle tomorrow. Any tiebreaker would go to Spokane based on wins.

Gavin McKenna is named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year. He led all first-year players with 15 goals and 51 points (and counting) in 34 games.

@MarkVoutier @cbepbp I think it's more likely to become the USHL at large. Age will trend younger with players spending only a couple years instead of 4 or 5. This specific change will only effect the elite of the elite.

@cbepbp You really have to wonder how long the CHL (or at a minimum several teams in each league) can hold on with these changes. Less talent, people come to see the big names, draft picks etc. Soon it will just be Junior A equivalent.

Story to watch with the potential of 19 year olds jumping to the AHL from the CHL.
